Chapter 24
Amethyst’s P.O.V
Walking down these halls brought back many painful memories.
Lying on the floor crying, as my brother and his friends mocked me.
Sitting on a pool of my own blood, courtesy of the cheerleaders.
Standing next to my locker, while my supposed best friend told me the latest rumor.
Sobbing my heart out, as I run from the boy who just rejected me.
I shook my head angrily. That was the past. I needed to forget about it and live in the moment.
I took a deep breath as I entered the cafeteria. This morning has been horrible. It took all my strength not to attack the bastards who ruined my life. The fact that the teachers called out my real name, Amethyst Knight, during roll call didn’t help. Now everybody knew who I was and it angered me. They kept staring at me, an incredulous look on their faces. Some even tried to walk up to me, but me glare quickly made them change their mind.
I spotted Amy, Jenna, and Josh and quickly joined them.
“Hey guys.” I said as I slid in next to Josh.
“Hey” they all mumbled as they devoured their food. I reached over and took a slice of pizza from Josh’s tray making him glare at me.
“What?” I asked “you have two more slices, fries, and a piece of cake. I’m saving you from diabetes you know. You should be more thankful.” With that, I took a big bite, quickly regretting it.
“Ughh! This is nasty, how can you eat this crap?”
Jenna shrugged. “We’re hungry and it’s better than nothing.” Josh and Amy nodded, agreeing with her.
“Tomorrow I’m bringing my own lunch” I said, smiling. My smile fell when I saw a girl across the room. She was sitting in a table filled with nothing but humans, which surprised me. She was laughing, making her green eyes sparkle. She was beautiful, there was no denying it. And she was happy, which angered me. She kept glancing at a human boy next to her, her face full of love. This could only mean one thing, he was her Mate.
I couldn’t help but smile. Even though they were Mates, he wouldn’t be able to feel the bond. One of the reasons it was difficult to have a human Mate is because they rarely felt the bond. They had no inner wolf that helped them distinguish their soul mate from a crowd. The werewolf Mate was at a disadvantage and had to make the human fall for them the old-fashioned way. This also meant the human could fall for someone else. There were instances when the human never fell for his/her Mate, causing the wolf to go crazy. They couldn’t bear to live knowing that their other half felt nothing towards them. Watching them fall for someone else was just icing on the cake. Though I was considered human by werewolf standards, I wasn’t. I had wolf blood running through my veins and an inner wolf, which allowed me to find my Mate, unfortunately.
I took a closer look at the boy and realized he was attractive. He had dark blonde, curly hair that touched the nape of his neck. His big brown eyes were full of life and mischief. He was muscular, and looked intimidating. He was gorgeous. And I was going to make him mine. It was time for Katie to know what it felt like to have someone take your Mate.
Time for you to know what happens when you betray the wrong person, Katie.
