Chapter 28

Amethyst’s P.O.V

After eating out at Delizioso, the only Italian restaurant that is even remotely close to the Crimson Blood Pack’s territory, we all decided to go to Essence, the hot new club.

No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t really enjoy dinner. I would have had the perfect time if it wasn’t for Aiden. Though I wish he wouldn’t have come, I know that without him, Amy wouldn’t really enjoy the night. His presence didn’t bother me as much as the fact that he kept trying to make conversation with me did. I thought that the first time I brushed off the question he would understand how much I loathe him. Even the second or third time wasn’t enough. Finally, I just began answering with one word answers knowing that if I started a fight, it would ruin everybody’s night. To make sure I behaved, I turned towards Adam and talked to him throughout most of the dinner. The only thing keeping me sane was the look in Katie’s face when I walked away with Adam. I loved knowing that she was feeling what I felt three years ago. Even my Wolf was satisfied with her pain.

When we finally made it to Essence, we walked towards the front of the club.

“Name?” the bouncer asked as soon as we stepped up.

“Aislinn Knight” I answered, not using my real first name.

The bouncer checked the list and once he made sure we were in it, he let us in.

“How did you get in the list?” Aiden asked sounding both shocked and awed.

“It helps to know people” I answered as I smirked at him.

As soon as we all made it inside everybody split up. Josh went over to flirt with a cute brunette. Amy dragged Aiden over to the dance floor. Jenna, being the weirdo she is, took Liam to the darkest corner she could find before shoving her tongue down his throat.

“So, I guess it’s just you and me.” I said with a smirk before dragging him over to the bar.

The rest of the night was nothing but a blur.

“Ughh, my head” I mumbled as soon as I opened my eyes. This is what I get for drinking that tenth tequila shot, and the eleventh, and I guess that third Long Island Iced Tea didn’t help either.

“Mmhm…” a voice muttered beside me. Oh Goddess, what did I do last night? Or better yet, who did I do last night?

I took a deep breath before turning towards the guy sleeping next to me.

“Adam?” I asked, slightly shocked.

Hearing my voice, Adam’s eyes snapped open and turned towards me.

“Mysty?” he asked “What are you doing in my room?”

“I-I don’t know” I say.

I close my eyes and focus on my breathing as a memory from last night surfaces.

Flashback

“You know you’re very good looking” I tell a half-drunk Adam “I wish you were my Mate, and not Katie’s. She doesn’t deserve you.” I tell him, almost falling off the stool.

“Don’t worry, Mysty, I’m everybody’s friend” he replies before laughing like a hyena, making me giggle.

“You know, I bet I could give you the best night of your life” I tell him with a wobbly smirk. “All you have to do is take me to your  house, and let me in to your bedroom.”

“I like you a lot.” He responded “and yeah, I want you to give me the best night of my life, and I want you to give it to me now.”

“Well then, handsome, let’s go and have an unforgettable night” I said as we drunkenly left the bar and headed towards his house.

The rest of the night was spent in a mess of limbs and sheets.

And boy, did he know how to use those limbs

Flashback Over

*****

I stared at Adam in horror. Oh, Goddess, what did I do?
Last night, before I got completely drunk, I realized something.

Adam is an amazing guy. He didn’t deserve to get his heart broken. A small part of me even liked him, as more than a friend. Though I know he felt the same way, I still wasn’t ready for a relationship. Hell, the closest I’ve come to a relationship is Josh and we are just bed buddies.

“Geez, Mysty, don’t look too horrified at the fact that we slept together” he said sarcastically as hurt filled his beautiful brown eyes.

“It’s not like that” I told him. “I just-I just don’t want to ruin our friendship” I said, telling him the partial truth.

“What do you want to do then?” he asked

“I-I don’t know” I said, feeling lost for the first time in a long time.

“Look, why don’t we take this one day at a time.” He said, determination filling his features. “If you decide to start a relationship, then I’m all up for it, but if you don’t…” sadness filled his eyes as he stared straight into my soul “then that’s okay too.”

“Thanks, Adam” I told him warmth filling me being that I had such an amazing guy by my side, even if he was just a friend.

“Anything for you, Mysty” he said softly “Anything for you.”
