The Betrayal

Chapter 4

Hello, Readers! I have decided to write this book in first person p.o.v.  Most will be in Amethyst’s p.o.v but not all of it<3

~Chapter 4~

Amethyst P.O.V

I couldn’t help the dread that filled me. Alpha Michael had called a meeting and informed me that I needed to attend. This made me feel uneasy as I was usually ignored. Being the only non-shifting werewolf in the pack made people forget she existed. She knew she would probably never shift. Though my father had been a high-ranking wolf, a Beta, my mom had still been human. Though 99% of the time, half breeds were able to shift, she was the unlucky one that didn’t. When her 10th birthday had come and passed and she hadn’t shifted, she knew her only hope for happiness would be her mate.

And now, I don’t have that either, I thought as tears once again filled my eyes.  I quickly wiped them away as I looked through the crowd, trying to find the only person who could ever comfort me, Katie. I couldn’t help but feel disappointment when in realized she wasn’t here.

She was so busy looking for Katie, she hadn’t realized she had locked eyes with Tabitha Andrews, Aiden’s mother, and my step-mother. Tabitha quickly sneered at me before turning away. With her platinum-blonde hair, and light blue eyes, Tabitha had always been beautiful. It didn’t really surprise me when my father had married her 4 years after the death of my mother, and 3 years after the death of her mate.

When Tabitha first came home, she would smile at me and compliment me in front of Dad, but would sometimes glare behind her back. I knew she made Dad happy, so I didn’t tell him about the hateful glares she would sometimes throw my way. Her hatred only increased after Dad died. I started hating myself after that day too. It was my fault he died.

Flashback

“Amethyst please stay her, okay?” Thomas Knight asked me.

“But daddy” I replied, “What if you get hurt?”

“Then Tabitha will take care of you”

“But-“

“Amy, please be a good girl and stay here okay?”

“Okay, daddy.”

My father quickly left, wanting to protect the pack from the Hunters  who had somehow snuck in and killed 3 pack members before anyone realized they had infiltrated.

I was scared, and didn’t want daddy to get hurt, so when nobody was looking I snuck away and went looking for him.

I ran, trying to keep my whimpers as low as possible as I saw many of our fighters lying lifelessly on the floor. I couldn’t stop now. I had to make sure daddy was okay.

“What are you doing here, little girl?” a voice suddenly asked behind her “can’t you see the fight going on? I’m going to enjoy causing you pain”

I quickly turned around coming face-to-face with a Hunter for the first time. I whimpered when I was the sneer on his lips and the malice in his eyes.

He quickly tried to grab me, but was intercepted by a big, dark brown wolf. I immediately knew it was daddy. I saw as the Hunter and daddy  fought, praying to the Goddess that daddy would win. I turned to the fight seeing daddy break the Hunter’s neck, but not before he stabbed daddy in the heart with a silver knife.

I let out a high-pitched scream as I saw daddy’s eyes close for the last time.

That had been 6 years ago, and  I still remembered everything that happened after that. All the pain that began on that fateful day. After the funeral everyone turned against me. They thought that I killed my father by disobeying him. The worst part was that it was all true. I did kill my father, I might not have stabbed him, but I led him to his death. Alpha Michael had been like a brother to my father so when he died, he blamed me. He made sure that I was ostracized and treated like a slave. It didn’t help that I never shifted, and was considered the weakest link.

“Okay, everybody I have some news’” Alpha Michael stated. “I have spoken to the Hunters and have come up with a solution that will please everyone . Well” he paused “almost everyone. Amethyst Knight please step forward.”

I was scared. I didn’t know what he had planned for me, but I knew it wasn’t going to be pretty.

“Is it true you claim to be my son’s mate?”

I heard gasps and angry growls erupt from the crowd.

“Yes, he is my mate.”

“Really? Because I asked him and he denied it. I also have a witness who says you came up with this lie so you could gain power. You thought my son would be too kind to tell the truth, and that he would be an easy way to gain power, didn’t you?”

“What? No! He is my mate! The Goddess chose him as my soul mate.”

“Stop lying!” he roared “We all know you are nothing but a power-hungry sl*t.”  I heard the crowd roar, agreeing with everything the Alpha said.

“I’m not lying!” I exclaimed “You have to believe me.”

“Just stop!” he yelled out, frustrated. “Lucas, please come out and bring your witness.”

I froze when I saw my mate coming out, holding hands with-

No! I couldn’t believe she would do this. The one person who I thought would never hurt me.

I then whispered the name of the girl who just betrayed me, the girl who  just broke the small piece of my heart that still held hope.

 “Katie?”
