SAM'S POV:
I sat by JP's bedside for months. As I watched her belly grow with Romeo's child inside, I grew angrier and angrier. JP loved him so much and he was so unworthy of it. He didn't even wait around to find out if she was okay. What happened to my childhood friend? The Romeo I knew growing up would have never done this shit.
The doctors don't know if she will ever wake up. Today is the day that they are going to do a c-section to take the baby out because she's approximately nine months pregnant The ultrasound says that it's a little girl. I hope she looks just like JP because if JP ever wakes up and the little girl looks like Romeo, that'll just be a reminder of the bastard who fathered her child.
I love JP and if she ever wakes up, I hope she'll give me the chance to prove it. No matter what, though, I hope she'll let me be a part of her life, whether it's as a friend or as a lover. She deserves to have one guy who will stick around through the hard times.
Romeo hasn't been seen or heard from since the day of the accident. He can be in hell for all I care. JP's bitch sister showed up here to gloat right after Romeo left. She told me that Romeo came home, fucked her, then took off. What kind of sick asshole can fuck his wife's sister the same day that his pregnant wife goes into a coma? After seeing the satisfaction in Megan's eyes, I threw her ass out of the hospital room and haven't seen her since.
JP's mother is here everyday too. She blames herself for not protecting JP, but I try to convince her that it's hard to protect a girl from heartbreak. Her mom asked me to help decorate a nursery for the baby to come home too. We picked out things that we though JP would like. JP always loved the ocean, so we decorated the baby's room in a nautical theme.
When I first met JP's father, I didn't know what to think. I knew that he hadn't been a part of her life, but he's been coming to the hospital often and always brings JP flowers. He says that he's hoping she'll wake up so that he can have a second chance. I think we're all hoping for a second chance.
I was sad to hear about what happened to Romeo's little sister Bre. Around the same time that JP went into the coma, Bre was caught by her friend having sex with the friend's older brother. The friend ran straight to Bre's father and told him about what she saw.
Romeo's dad beat the crap out of Bre and tried to rape her. Luckily, a neighbor who had heard called the cops and the cops showed up before any more damage could be done. Bre didn't have any family to go to, so she was sent to a foster home and is receiving therapy. Romeo's dad was found guilty and thrown in jail. Good riddance. His son deserves to be in the same place.
As I'm sitting in the waiting room with JP's dad, Jerry, JP's mom walks in with the doctor. Her dad and I stand up.
"Is it time, Angie?" Jerry asks JP's mom.
"Yes," the doctor answer for her.
"Can I go in too?" I ask nervously.
The three of them share looks, then the doctor says, "I don't see any reason why not, if it's okay with her parents."
Angie smiles warmly at me, "You've been a good friend to JP. I think she would want that."
Angie, Jerry and I are taken by a nurse to clean up and change into scrubs. When we enter the surgery room, JP is already lying on a table and there is a sheet hanging from above that hides her body from the ribs down. The three of us huddle around JP's comatose body, near her head and shoulders. Angie starts crying and Jerry is comforting her. I whisper words of encouragement in JP's ear, even though I know she can't hear them. I let her know that she's doing a good job and that we'll take care of her daughter for her until she can do it herself. JP would make a wonderful mother. JP WILL make a wonderful mother.
We can hear the doctors on the other side of the curtain going through the procedures. I can't believe that on the other side of the curtain, they are cutting her open. Angie questioned them about the scar that would be left and they told her that it will be way below her belly button and won't even show if she wears a bikini in the future. Not that we know if she'll ever model a swimsuit again.
The whole situation becomes tenser when we start to hear a commotion on the other side of the curtain. The doctor is shouting out orders to nurses for equipment.
"What's happening?!" Angie screams.
A nurse peeks around the corner with a worried expression, "The baby isn't breathing!"
Angie's loud sobs start to drown out the noise coming from the other side of the curtain. Jerry and a nurse lead her from the room. I think she may need to be medicated herself. I grab onto JP's shoulder, needing the comfort myself. All of a sudden, JP's chest starts rising and falling quickly and her breathing becomes shallow and rapid. I am startled and call for a nurse.
"What's wrong with her?" I ask frantically.
"I don't know," the nurse hurriedly goes back to the other side of the curtain.
Less than a minute later, I hear a loud infant's wail from the other side of the curtain. Immediately, JP's eyes flash open and she gasps loudly. She is whispering something and I lean down to listen.
"What is it JP?"
She whispers one thing, "Romeo."
JP goes unconscious again and I start shouting for the doctor. The doctor examines her and doesn't believe me. He says that her condition is still the same. She's still in a coma. They wheel JP to a recovery room and I follow the baby to the nursery. I watch as the baby is cleaned and the nurses allow me to hold her.
As I'm staring down at JP and Romeo's daughter, the child that looks so much like the father that bailed out on them. I had to give her words of comfort, that came from my heart.
"Welcome to the world little JP, I promise I'm going to be there for you no matter what and your mother too. I may not be your dad, but I promise since he bailed out I'm going to be like a father to you. If your dad ever comes back I'm not going to let him hurt you or your mom."
****SOOOOO WASNT THAT A GREAT ENDING??? DONT WORRY THATS NOT IT THERES WAY MORE TO COME :)*******
