Chad's POV

Well that's something-i think to myself, but this time i'm alerted as ever. However the duke is trying to keep everything under control, I know that any moment now he would get that dagger out and try to stake me. Yeah, I noticed he's armed. He thinks that I can't see it under all that mass of clothes. He's probably mistaking me with someone rather unprepared.

Next question, however, is simple. What would I do? For my human? How about I rip off Duke's head and shove it up his fat ass? "We shall see!"-i mumble instead, my voice sounding rather optimistic.

"You all know why we gathered here!"-he announces proudly grabbing another goblet into his grip. "My honorable council!"-Morgan nods his head at the twelve demons cozy sitting behind the table and at the other pricks on the opposite side,-"my dearest friends... as you all know, the time has come for a new hereditary to take the throne.

Furfur, my beloved cousin, was meant to rule the hell after me, but you all know he had other plans. Interesting, in fact. Choosing woman's company instead of the crown he made a mistake. However, before dying he left someone to clean up his mess. Mr.Haynes!"-he turned around at me, while I just rolled my eyes. "Son of the Furfur will take attendance in ruling the hell.

Without a leader the world is about to end. We still have time, but the longer we delay things, the harder it would be to rise from the ashes. Our evil souls are dying unstoppably. Our sulfur devouring river is loosing it's power. Soon it won't let us pass through and we would be doomed to stay under the ground.

That's why it's so important for you, Mr.Haynes, to welcome what's unavoidable. Accept the prophesy, because if you don't, after the death of Furfur's spirit, the land would be devastated."

They all stare at me now and I shift uncomfortably. I never was good receiving so many stares thrown my way. "I guess next word is after me, huh?"-i ask turning at the duke. "How about that- cute monologue, really, but no, thank you. Next time. Was a pleasure to meet you and so long?"

"This is sad you don't take this seriously. How come?"

"As far as I know you guys are doing great without me! Let's keep it this way. I have my life to live."

"What kind of life is that?"-duke asks taking another sip.

"Ah you know- girls, parties, sports cars..."

"You didn't see the half of it!"-the oldest member of the council accuses jumping off of his seat. "You can't avoid the doom! The only option we have here is I don't like. Your human would die if you refuse us! You don't respect our home and who you are! Who we are!"

"Ah, Melchom!"-Morgan sighs again approaching the window. "We always have a plan B, isn't that right? Twisted, but works pretty good."

"Morgan, who am I to criticize your twisted mind? We're all just humans, right? You took human form to hide how evil, how black and slither you are! I know you have a dagger! Didn't see it comin' did you?"

He smiles at me curiously and then gazes at Serene. "We all have some precautions, Mr.Haynes. I assure you, no one would do you any harm under my roof! Accept the prophesy. That's all we ask. Immortality is the belief that the soul dies and does not live again until the resurrection. Your human form died, but you would always be this. Empty. Shallow. You would never be something more than that."

"Then Serene is going with me."

"That's out of discussion. She is attending the court because of what she did!"

Ok, so now i'm getting nervous again. "What did she do?!"-i growl.

"She made you weak and pathetic! Only because of her you died and triggered the prophesy! You ruined the system!"
