Serene's POV

It's been few days since the guards left me in the royal chambers with no opportunity to see the freedom.

And this morning, just like yesterday and every morning before, I woke up with a fresh hope to live another day.

"Just one more day."

Creating plans on my big escape didn't give any results. There was no way, obviously, but creating plans somehow still kept me going. Either way I would loose my mind and probably would try to kill myself by drowning in the bath.

"But not today."

I let my legs hang from the bed edge and sat like this for few moments, sharply listening to whatever was happening behind the locked door.

But nothing was happening. No sounds of footsteps or silent talks, no nothing, as if I was the only living, breathing person in this castle.

However, first day being here I couldn't find a place to rest, I was looking for the way out, but saw none, so exhausted I finally crumbled onto the bed and prayed myself to sleep.

The king didn't come to my chambers neither tonight, neither previous nights. I still had a secret, undeniable fear that he was just like Chad- that he would torture me, beat me and yell at me for no particular reason and then would try to do all those filthy things like Haynes would, but...

To my biggest relief the king kept his word. He didn't try to hurt me and I didn't see him since that very day, when Cecil brought me here.

However, every time I woke up in the morning I was surprised by finding a tray peacefully laying by the huge door filled with most delicious dishes.

I'm not denying-first morning I didn't eat anything, afraid on the possibility of poisonous food. And even though I was hungry as ever, I managed to swallow the need and resisted to the temptations.

But this morning was different. This morning I was feeling too hungry and too sad to starve for another day, so without any hesitation I crawled to the tray and right there, on the marble floor I let myself to dig in.

I emptied all the plates that were left for me- sweet pancakes with strawberry sauce, delightful yogurt with fresh, carefully layered cherries, waffles covered in honey, a bottle of water and a glass of fresh orange juice. But black liquid in a silver cup was what made my heart flutter with joy. Hot, sugar-free and most blackest, most delicious coffee ever. It was the only thing from foods that I missed the most.

Honestly? I would trade a cup of coffee for a pizza even if I starved for a week.

So I left it for dessert. I curled back to the the bed and greedily drank the whole cup. As I finally emptied the cup, in about 5 minutes, I put it back on the tray, because the maid was coming in strictly in 20 minutes after I ate.

The question was- how did she know when to serve breakfast, when would I wake up and when I finished the food?

I was afraid there were cameras everywhere spying on me, especially when i'm asleep and that maybe someone is keeping an eye on the monitor? Jerking off or something?

I shook the thought away and headed to the bathroom. I quickly took the shower, dried my hair and washed my teeth with a toothbrush I found among all the stuff laying on the toilet table. I slipped into a bathrobe and went to the bedroom.

As soon as I appeared in the door frame, the maid, dressed in precise maid outfits, was picking up the tray.

"Please help me!"-i begged grabbing her by the arm, just like I did every morning, hoping she would be the one to rescue me.
