Chad's POV

"Can we talk?"

"I have nothing to say to you, Chad",-he mumbles and keep scrolling the channels without even looking at me.

I hardly swallow. Even my best friend turned his back on me, it appears.

"I didn't know killing Jim would affect you this much!"

"You should've think more then."

"You're angry, I get that. But you saw what he was doing to her, and so did you, but he just kept on going."

"I said I don't wanna talk about this."

"Oh come on, give me a break!"-i grunt. I have no idea why I have to explain myself, but I guess I just need at least my best friend on my side.

"You decide on your own, everything. None of us has a word. I don't get it, what is there so special about her?"-he now turns to face me.

"This isn't democracy, Sam. You knew all along i'm in charge, but you all, you always try to put me down. Even you, Sam. I knew you before. You were my friend. What I do- it never bothered you before. What has changed?"

"Alright. Listen. I know, I know... even if she wakes up, which I strongly doubt, and even if you two run away from Morgan and all this, she will not change her opinion on you. You will always be the enemy and surely as hell- you could never win her affection."

"I've definitely never been in love before. And I don't know what this is, I just know I don't wanna kill her and I wanna go."

"Then go. What is stopping you?"

"If only I knew",-i mumble and slop down on the couch. Sam changes the channel. "Is there any news about the Fordaham's investigation?"

"They would start searching the mountains very soon."

"They would never come this far. We're too secluded, they won't be able to spot us even from the damn helicopters."

"Yeah, you keep telling that to yourself."

"You think we should back off for a while?"

"Do you really care what I think?"

"What's with the attitude, man?"

"You put us all at risk. Maybe it's a good thing Morgan wants to take the charge, maybe you really should just go."

Can't believe he just said that. For a moment I sit silent and don't say anything, trying to process every word that just left his lips.

Darren's POV

Well that was nice finally hearing, that Chad will be gone for a whole day soon, maybe even more. I couldn't calm myself down and tried to manage to hold it together. I hated her so much, for who she thought she was. But even more than that, I hated Chad.

I saw he's slipping away from reality and all his moves were showing, that he had second thoughts. No wonder. He was spending too much time with S and bitch was playing with his mind. That never was meant to happen. And it was driving me crazy.

After I finished my shower, I got dressed up and headed to the meeting room. I was bored. I grabbed a beer on my way down and opened the doors. I glanced around. It was weird seeing Jim's chair empty. He wasn't one of my friends, or anything, but it just felt somewhat wrong. Chad is out of control when it comes to his brother. I wanted him out of the business. I was sure I could handle it all way better. That had to wait a bit, though.

I sat on my leather chair and opened the bottle. I took a sip of cold beer and guys looked at me.

"What!?"-i asked hesitantly.

"Man...it's 9 in the morning"-Paul whispered.

"So?"

"Whatever..."-he said and got back to talking with Sam.

When I was almost done with the beer, his 'highness' finally showed up. I saw all of us got tensed and me with Sam exchanged the looks.

"Morning!"- Chad said, like nothing weird happened few days ago.

He sounded relaxed and in a good mood.

"I bet the bitch is finally out of coma?"-i asked sarcastically and nodded my head towards him.

"Hold your tongue!"-he said and sat on his chair "and to answer your question- no, she's not out of coma."

Everyone sat silent, waiting for him to start talking. He sipped his coffee and lit a cigarette.

Well that's awkward- I thought to myself and was wondering who would be the first to come with the question. I heard Mike caught and suddenly he got our attention.

"I think we must discuss here something, don't you think?"-he nodded to Chad, which was still smoking.

"We do,"-he said. "I know all of you have questions,"-he put down his cup and sat more straight on the chair,-"i'm listening".

I was about to say something, but Sam cut me off. "Don't you think that's enough?"-he asked and Chad raised his eyebrows,-"i mean... we tried almost all of our medicines. And as you all can see- it's not working the way it had to. She's still alive and the clock is ticking. We have so little time. If this is not working, Morgan will come and take shit in his control. You want this?"

"She's fighting harder than the previous girls,-he said,-"we just need to push a little bit more".

"By killing our fucking partner!!??"-i couldn't stand all this crap any longer,-"how come she is still alive and all we got now- a rotting Jim's body at the basement!"

"Calm down, man,"-he tried to shut me up again,-"don't forget you all work for me, and when it comes to decision-making - I decide, damn it!"

We stood in front of each other, tension building amongst us. I swear I wanted kick his ass so bad. The others just sat silent, though I knew what was anyone thinking. It was just a matter of time.

"Honestly,"-Paul started and we both turned around,-"i think you're falling for the bitch".

And here it was... just what everyone around was thinking about, afraid to say it out loud.

"You don't know what the fuck you are saying!"-Chad yelled at him. I guess someone finally found his week spot.

I turned to face him. Yeah, he was the boss, but he was making a serious mistake. I couldn't stay calm any longer. "You know what we all want, man!"

"Say it".

"Oh I bet I don't have to, really".

His eyes narrowed. Hell yeah, he knew. Chad stepped back and glanced at all of us. Guys were sitting quiet, focused and serious. His fists were clenched tight, he knew he loosing us here, I had no doubt. He stood still and silent for couple of moments, probably thinking the way out.

"That's not going to happen!"-he barely whispered.

"What?"-i couldn't believe my ears,-"who you think you fucking are?"

I grabbed his neck, but Chad punched me back with a sudden smack on my face, which I, honestly, wasn't expecting, and I backed off. We stared for each other for a moment and that was my chance. I had to strike. Fast.

We jumped at each other and started fighting. The others didn't interrupt us. Everyone knew, that we had to deal with this in our way. They patiently stared at us, rolling on the ground and smacking each other's face, till there were bruises, cuts and blood.

I had my nose broken, he had a nasty cut above his upper lip. So basically that was it.

We exchanged angry glances and simply moved on.
