Sam's POV. The next morning.

"So, what's the occasion? I thought you don't like to go social?"-i laughed, hearing the plans on going out.

"Yeah, well,"-Haynes said thoughtfully taking a zip from his mug-"i feel like it's gonna be different this time."

"It's what you said the last time,"-Jake murmured.

"It's what you say every time!"-Darren laughed, eating his bacon,-"well remind me at least one time you didn't do anything suspicious!"

Haynes held his eyes up at all of us, smiling. "Anything suspicious. By the way, that thing with this girl...It's all Mike. But It's what you all wanted, isn't it?"

"Duh!"-i said sarcastically,-"what about 'need to focus, plan'? Your words."

"I guess I was just being spontaneous. We all were."

I filled my mug once again, saying nothing more. I noticed Chad and Jake exchange intense glances and may I be dammed if it didn't mean anything. They're whispering quite a lot lately, everyone knows it. Everyone pretend it's all ok. Not me though. I know there's something going on. And i'm so close to figuring it all out.

I watched him slurp coffee quickly, like he was trying to get over with the breakfast already and avoid any further talks by getting the hell out.

As I sat on my usual wooden chair like every morning, I noticed Haynes looks hangover. There was something about his features that was bothering me. We weren't that close to share our problems, but it was clear something's not quite right. His eyes were darkened, tired and somewhat odd. He was all messed up and pale as paper. He was even paler than before.

If that's even possible.

I thought there for a slight moment, considering the fact, that whatever we do, it probably gonna end the same anyways. We would have some drinks, share memories of good old days, then one of us, most likely Paul, would cause a fight with local bikers and we end up with a bottle each, few bruises and dead bodies in a trunk. We would probably come home next morning, cussing when burying corpses in the back yard.

Anyway, whatever is there we're about to do, I missed all this. The chaos we leave behind. I doubted we're kidnapping another girl for the experiment. We still didn't consider things. And Chad expects everything to go strictly by the plan. Have to wait, I guess.

There, behind the round kitchen table sat almost everyone. Mike, eating greedy like he didn't have anything for days, Darren, Luke, Paul and Jake. I saw Paul is in no mood like almost always, drinking beer in this hour. I had a feeling it was his way on dealing with things we do here, in the basements. I knew him many years before all this, but as years passed, he was becoming into...this. Always said, angry and aggressive. Probably some of us just can't fit in. I pushed away these thoughts and concentrated on my eggs and bacon on a plate.

We ate breakfast in silence, finishing it with another cup of coffee. When I was almost done and was about to stand up to leave, I remembered something that was bothering me since early this morning.

"I heard some pretty weird noises last night,"-i said and I saw everyone went silent. Chad flinched, but he concentrated pretty fast.

"Yeah, we all did!"-Jake whispered. He opened a flask of whiskey, adding a zip to his cup.

"What were you doing, anyway?"-Darren looked him in the eyes.

We all watched as Chad sat there silent and smiling. It was weird thought. He never smiled without any occasion, unless he was doing some experiment. Or had something nasty on his mind. Knowing him, I would consider Haynes would go nuts any moment now. He's always happy seconds before he starts raging and do stuff, the kind of stuff I must take care of after.
