Ryan was feeling cute in his oversized orange sweater and matching black skinny jeans. It was fucking Fall, leave him and his obsession with Halloween alone. Black and orange were nice colors, anyways.
He was sitting outside on the hammock, drinking some hot cocoa as he waited for Brendon to come over. He didn't really have anything planned, but he wanted to see him, so why not?
The boy finally rounded the corner, and Ryan sat up a little bit, unable to contain his grin at seeing Brendon.
"Hey!" Brendon greeted cheerily, bounding into the backyard and closing the gate behind him.
Ryan smiled widely and offered a wave before standing up. "Hey."
"Sooo," Brendon started, swaying on his feet. "Whaddya wanna do? Also, nice outfit," he added with a snicker.
"Oh shut up," Ryan huffed, lightly pushing Brendon's shoulder as he walked past him. "My color coordination is great.""Uh huh," Brendon noncommittally agreed, following Ryan into his house.
"Anyways," Ryan continued. "I don't really know? It's Fall so it's kinda chilly but--"
At the mention of Fall Brendon's eyes lit up and he interrupted Ryan. "Remember the last time I came over and we raked that leaf pile?"
"Um, yeah?"
"We should totally rake them back into a coordinated pile and jump in them again!"
Ryan thought about this before shrugging. "Sure, I don't have anything better for us to do."
"Yesss..." Brendon hissed excitedly.
After a few rounds of jumping in the pile like the children they still were, and then proceeding to throw leaves at each other, they decided to host a contest of "who could spill more leaves everywhere from jumping into the pile from a high distance".
So far, Brendon was winning, and Ryan had only hurt his thumb from grazing it along the bark of the tree he had climbed to jump out of.
The second time Ryan jumped, he got buried in the leaves, and when he popped his head back up, Brendon laughed and said, "Ross, you have leaves in your hair."
Ryan stuck his tongue out at Brendon before remarking, "I know."
Brendon crossed his arms and playfully glared at Ryan. "Oh, so you're Mr. Know-It-All, now, huh?"
"Maybe I am," Ryan hummed."Smartass," Brendon mumbled, shaking his head and smirking.
"What you gonna do about it?" Ryan asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Oh, I dunno, this?"
Ryan didn't have time to respond as Brendon tackled him back into the pile of leaves, effectively pinning him on his back."Effective," Ryan mumbled. He avoided Brendon's gaze, but after a few seconds he looked up, since Brendon was still hovering above him, softly gazing down at him. "Bren--"
He was quickly silenced as Brendon leaned down and connected their lips in a sweet kiss. When Brendon pulled away and let Ryan sit up, he voiced his observation, "Ryan, your cheeks are legit the same color as the leaves."
This just made Ryan blush more and hide his face from Brendon as he mumbled a half-hearted, "Shut up!!"
"Also," Brendon purred, reaching out to cup Ryan's chin and turn his face back towards him. "Your lips are so nice. Kinda pink, kinda cherry-flavored? Do you use lip balm?"
"Brendon, I-I swear to god," Ryan tried to say, but he was too busy trying not to laugh or die of embarrassment. "Shut up, ohmygod. I hate you."
Brendon pulled Ryan close to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "I know you don't," he murmured as he pressed a kiss to the top of Ryan's head.
