I was in the precinct about to get interrogated by Jim. My eyes felt puffy and droopy. I was cold. Jim walked in and sat in front of me. "You know how this goes right?" Jim said. I nodded my head.
"I need to know about the breakout in Arkham." He said. "I-I can't tell you." I said. He sighed. "Did they threaten you? I can help. I just need the name of the person who did this." He said. "No one threatened me. I'm not telling you because I want to kill this person myself." I said.
"Unless you want to go back to Arkham I can't let you do that. Tell me the name and I'll take care of it myself." Jim said. I stayed quiet, thinking if I should actually trust him or not. "Listen I don't think an asylum is a good place for a 17 year old to be in. Then again, hanging out with a psychopath isn't a good thing either." Jim said. "He's not a psychopath. Don't ever call him that." I growled.
Jim stayed quiet. "Look I'm cold, tired, and it's been a long night for me so I can I just go home?" I said. "I can let you go but not home. You have to stay here overnight." Jim said. I rolled my eyes and motioned him to uncuff me. He took out the key and moved me to a cell. Most of the police have already gone home.
I was the only one in here. Jim locked me in and went to his work desk, I guess finishing up some paperwork before leaving. I was all alone in the cell, cold and very tired. But my mind wasn't letting me sleep. I could barely sleep through the night. I would constantly think about Jerome and cry. Even when I tried going to sleep my mind would go back to him. All I could see was his face.
I was tossing and turning and the next thing I know, it's morning. The sun shines through the windows of the precinct and I groaned. I closed my eyes and hoped to fall asleep. 10 minutes into my sleep and I was woken up by the sound of police entering the precinct, getting ready for work.
I sighed and sat up. I rubbed my eyes and stretched. "Anyone have a cigarette?" I asked. No one responded and ignored me. "Hello? I asked something!" I said. They just looked at me and continued to what they were doing. "Jesus could I at least get coffee?" I asked and once again, I was ignored.
Just then Jim entered and went over to his work desk. He grabbed a cup of coffee and walked over towards my cell. He unlocked my cell, cuffed me, and walked me into an interrogation room. He sat me down and then walked on the other side.
"Before we start..do you have a cigarette?" I asked. "No i don't." He said. "Last night after Jerome died and the cops were taking you out of the building, you shouted something to Theo Galavan. Do you know him?" Jim asked. "I don't know what you're talking about." I said.
"You said 'this wasn't planned', what does that mean?" Jim asked. I stayed silent for a while. I kept debating whether I should tell him. Should I really tell a cop who killed my boyfriend? Should I trust that he won't tell anyone and Tabitha won't kill me? Should I be scared that Tabitha and Theo will find out and kill me?
"How do I know that you won't open your mouth? How will I know to trust you?" I said. "You'll just have to trust me." He said. I sat back and sighed. I stayed quiet, thinking.
"This is between you and me. Only you and me. If this gets out, we'll have trouble and I'll be dead. Got it?" I asked. Jim nodded his head. I closed my eyes and sighed. "Theo Galavan. He's the one that helped us escape. He's the one that made us do all these things." I said.
"The GCPD? The people dropped from the roof? The bus full of cheerleaders? Jerome's father? He made you do all of this?" Jim asked. "Well he sent us to scare people. Some of it was just our ideas." I said. "Jerome decided to kill his father. Obviously we had to keep you guys away from Theo so he planted the things on his father. The cheerleaders also just happened to drive by, it was the closest thing. The people dropped from the building was both Jerome's and my idea." I said.
"And the GCPD?" Gordon asked. "Theo's." I replied. I told him just about everything. The escape from Arkham, the GCPD, everything that Theo told us. "We can't arrest him just yet. We need evidence that he did this." Jim said. "So what about me?" I asked. He sighed and shook his head. "Dammit I'm gonna have to lie for you. Just know I wouldn't normally do this but you're gonna have to promise me something." He said. "What?" I asked.
"Stay hidden and don't kill people." He said. "I'm not sure about the hidden part I'll try." I said. "Ok so here's whats gonna happen. I'm gonna sneak you out and you're gonna have to run. Once they notice you're gone, I'll lie and say you managed to escape from me. I know that they're gonna want to find you to send you to Arkham but I'll keep them off of you." He explained. "So then once they can't find me that's it?" I asked. "Yes but just know that if you return, they take you to Arkham." Jim said.
Unfortunately, Jim couldn't sneak me out through the back door so I had to climb out the window. Once my feet hit the ground, I ran to the house Jerome and I lived in. I know that on the way to the house, I heard sirens but I wasn't sure if it was for me or some robbery or speeding car. I don't know how it went back at the precinct but I managed to make it home.
