I had just arrived at the precinct and I was walking in. "Happy birthday Violet!" I heard so sudden, making me jump. The precinct was decorated with balloons and streamers. I smiled and thanked everyone. Two police officers came over to me and one put on a party hat while the other one put a sash on me.

Everyone calmed down and I was walking to the office. I walked by Jim and Harvey who both wished me a happy birthday. I walked into the office and I caught Nathan in the middle of sticking up a banner. "Oh! You weren't supposed to see this yet." He said. I giggled and shook my head. "You shouldn't have done this. I already had the big surprise with the whole precinct." I said.

"Well I wanted my surprise to be special but you caught me in the middle of it." Nathan said. "I even got you these!" Nathan said, pulling out a confetti popper from a bag. "No no no! Dont!" I shouted, stopping him. "Why not?" He said. "Someone did it for Will's birthday and all the cops pulled out their guns. Henry accidentally shot Jack in the leg. Poor guy had to go to the hospital." I said.

Nathan chuckled and put the confetti away. There was a knock on the door and I turned around. It was Lee. "Happy birthday Vi!" She said, handing me a gift. "I wanted to let you know that we're going out for dinner tonight." She smiled. "We?" I asked. "Me, Nathan, Jim, and Harvey and of course, you." She said.

"Alright. Thanks." I smiled. "You're welcome." She said before leaving. I walked over to the desk and set the gift down. I peeked at it and found a card.

Violet,

Happy birthday! I hope this fits you and I hope you like it! Put it on for tonight's dinner.

"Seven." Nathan said. "Huh?" I said. "Seven, the dinner is at seven. She forgot to tell you." He said. "Oh thanks." I mumbled. We continued to work.

When we were done working, I got into my car and drove home. When I got home, it was 5. I had two hours to get ready. I went to take a shower and I dried my hair. I grabbed the gift Lee gave me and pulled out a dress. I put it on and thanked her in my head. It fit perfectly and it was so pretty. I decided to make my hair wavy with a curling iron. After that, I did my makeup.

When I was done, it was 6:30. I grabbed the only pair of heels that I had that, thankfully, matched the dress I was wearing. I grabbed my purse and checked to make sure I had cash. I grabbed my phone and went downstairs.

At 6:50, there was a knock at my door. I got up and opened it. It was Nathan. He looked up and his mouth fell open. "Hey." I greeted. I went back to the living room and turned off the tv. Nathan kept smiling at me and I gave him a look. "What are you smiling about?" I asked.

"You. You just look so beautiful." He said. I felt my cheeks get warm and I looked down to avoid eye contact. He held out his hand and I looked up. "Shall we?" He smirked. I rolled my eyes and shook my head but still went ahead and grabbed his hand. We went outside and I made sure the door was locked. We walked to his car and he opened the door for me. I hopped in and he shut it before going to the other side and getting in the car.

He drove us to the restaurant and we got out. We went inside and I saw Lee waving at us. She had a big smile when we got to the table. "It looks so good on you!" She smiled. We sat down and I greeted Jim and Harvey. "Happy birthday Violet." Jim said, handing me a gift bag. "Thank you." I said.

The waiter came and we ordered our drinks and took a few minutes to look at the menu. We ordered our food when we were ready and throughout the entire dinner, Lee kept taking pictures of me. It would either just be me or it would be with Nathan or Jim..or Harvey or with Lee.

When we finished dinner, Lee went all out and told the restaurant it was my damn birthday. They brought out a cupcake with a birthday candle for me and the staff sang and clapped. One of them put on a party hat on me. When they finished singing, I blew out my candle and they went away.

After that, Nathan took me home and stayed a bit. I opened my presents from some of the cops at the precinct, Jim, Harvey, and Nathan. "I saved the best for last!" I joked. Nathan chuckled and I grabbed his gift. "You know we just met like a week ago so I hope you like it." He said as I opened the gift.

Inside were earrings, a graphic tee, some matte liquid lipsticks, and an eyeshadow palette. "I should've asked Lee for her help but I didn't." He said, scratching the back of his neck. "Well you did a good job on the size of the shirt." I smiled. "I did? I mean- of course duh." He said. "And I love the colors of the liquid lipsticks. You did good Nathan." I said. Nathan smiled and said "I'm glad you do."
