>Violet<

It's been a few days since I told Lee about Jerome. Since then, she's made my schedule for therapy. Today's the first day with Dr.Harper.

I was at my house, getting dressed while Lee was in my living room watching tv. I walked out to the living room and we left.

When we got there, Lee and I introduced ourselves to Dr.Harper and Lee excused herself. "I have to go to work. I'll be back to pick you up. Just call me." She said and left. "Is Lee your mother?" Dr. Harper asked. "Oh no she's just a friend and I work with her." I said. She nodded her head and spoke.

"Lee told me you've been seeing someone. Jerome, right?" She asked. "Yep." I said. "And who exactly is Jerome?" She asked. "Jerome was my boyfriend but he died a year ago. Lately, I've been seeing him and we would talk." I said. "When did you first see him?" Dr. Harper asked.

"Like a little more than a week ago, when I was in the hospital. I was like dreaming or something and I saw him. Then a few days later when I got drunk, he showed up." I said. "And what do you guys talk about?" She asked, writing down stuff. "A lot of stuff. We usually tell each other how we miss each other but recently it's been arguments." I said.

"What are these arguments about?" She said. "I tell him to go away but he doesn't because he knows deep down I want him to stay." I said. She nodded her head and scribbled down more notes. It was silent for a bit.

"I think you're having a difficult time letting go of Jerome. How long were you with him?" She asked. "Less than a year. A few months really." I said. "It sounds like you two bonded quick and since his death happened so sudden, I think you're having a hard time to comprehend that. You see him because you want to. You miss him so your mind creates his image and makes you believe he's there." She explained.

"I think if we continued to have sessions, I can help you let him go. You wouldn't see him anymore." She said. All of a sudden, Jerome popped up as if they called him. "Yeah that's not gonna happen." He said. My body froze and I tensed up. "Go away." I mumbled. "I'm sorry?" Dr.Harper asked.

"Tell her you can't see her anymore. Lie and tell them you're cured." Jerome said. "She's trying to help. Why are you here?" I said. "Is Jerome here Violet?" Dr.Harper asked. "Yes and he's being annoying." I said. "I'm annoying you? Ha!" Jerome laughed.

"Violet I need you to close your eyes and pretend he's not there. Shut him out." Dr. Harper told me. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I didn't hear Jerome anymore. I opened my eyes and saw that Jerome was gone.

"He's gone." I breathed out. "See it worked. Remember Violet, Jerome is apart of your mind. You created his image so you can control him. Don't let him control you." Dr. Harper said. "Whenever he comes up, just shut him out." She said. I nodded my head. She continued the session and asked a few more questions about my relationship with Jerome.

When the session ended, I called Lee like she told me to. She picked me up and we were on our way to the precinct. "So how was the session?" Lee asked. "It went well. She taught me how to shut out Jerome." I said. "That's good. What else did she say?" Lee asked. "She said that because Jerome and I were close and he died so sudden, she thinks I might be having a hard time letting him go." I said. She nodded her head and we arrived at the precinct.

When I got inside, I went directly to the file room. I grabbed some files from the cart and started organizing them. As I was organizing, I heard a knock at the door. It was Jim. "Violet! I have someone to work with you!" He said. I poked my head out from behind the drawers.

"Hi!" I came out and walked over to them. "We also got a new cart so walk him around and train him I guess." Jim said. He walked away and left me with the new guy. "I'm Nathan." Nathan smiled. I noticed he had an accent. "Violet." I said. "So what do you do?" He asked. "Organize files...And bring them files if they need it." I said.

I grabbed the cart and Nathan and we went around the precinct, picking up files. "So twice a day, I go around and collect files." I explained to Nathan. After we collected the files, we went back to the office. "Then I come back here and organize them. By name." I said. I went around the room and show him how the files were organized. "Alright. I could get used to that." He shrugged.

That day, I got to know Nathan a bit better. He's 21 and he and his family had recently moved from England, which explains the accent. Nathan did pretty good for his first day. I was glad they hired another person because it was becoming too much for me.
