I'm writing this on my iPad, so prepare for no all-lowercase. I'm sorry, it's hurting my aesthetic just as much as its hurting yours - I promise.
So I'm just gonna be talking of growing out of things - music, tv shows etc etc
Firstly - I don't like 5 Seconds Of Summer anymore, and anyone who knows me personally knows how bloody obsessed I was with them. They said some things I don't agree on, and did some pretty dumb things so I just lost interest. Their music started blurring together with too many other bands for me, so I gradually stopped listening to them as often and now I've just stopped completely.
Also, I don't really like Halsey too much at the moment. I still think Badlands was one of the best albums of 2015 but I've just lost interest because she hasn't been doing too much recently. Closer sent me back on a Halsey kick but that's about it.
I still listen to Fall Out Boy a lot, but before BLOOM came out I wasn't keeping up with them. Now, however, I have listened to them so much more - Folie à Deux will never be beaten on my list of favourite albums.
I also used to adore The X Factor but ever since Little Mix won I haven't really cared about it. It's so fake and put-on, I just don't bother anymore.
There's also certain YouTubers who I've lost interest in, such as Grace Helbig, Rhett and Link, Tyler Oakley and to an extent even Dan and Phil.
Don't get me wrong, I still adore Dan and Phil but I'm just too old for their demographic with what they're doing right now. I think TATINOF seems quite...over done? I have no idea how to describe it, I just feel as though it was too commercialised to make sure they got the money that they had put into it. I would have gone if it came to Dublin, but I don't think I would have bothered buying any merch there or tried to get up on stage for the audience participation bits. I haven't seen it yet, simply because I'm not bothered to subscribe to YouTube Red, but when I do I'm afraid I'll hate it due to the nature of how it was produced.
Growing out of things isn't a negative thing, in fact growing out of things means you're developing as a person. As I grow out of things I get into other things. I adore other singers and bands in a different way from how I did when I was twelve, and I'm grateful for that. Instead of going to a concert to buy merchandise, I'm going to concerts purely because I appreciate the music enough to pay to see it played live.
I watch Philip DeFranco every single day because he keeps it real, he talks about things that matter. I watch TomSka's second channel religiously because with his Last Week series, he doesn't sugar-coat his life to make it seem wonderful - he shows the hard parts, he shows dealing with mental illness and how his friends are his support system.
Growing up is tough, and growing out of things is tough too. But it's alright, because everything will work out and you'll find the things you'll love forever.
