The last 4 and half months had flown by in an amazing blur....

I had my grades up last semester and was ready for my new classes to start. Carly was the best roommate/friend I could have ever asked for. She helped me through college life and welcomed me into her family. She was like the sister I've never had but always wanted. We normally spent every Sunday with her family and being with them was amazing. It felt good being surrounded by them, making Sundays my favorite day. It sucks knowing I had missed out being surrounded by people you love growing up. But I was grateful and appreciative of how quickly Katherine and James took me in and treated me as if I was their own daughter. Without a surprise, I didn't hear from my dad much. He would send emails once a month but that's it. I even tried calling him but he would never pick up. It didn't bother me that much since we hardly talked back at home. Speaking of home, I thought of Mason and how he was doing. We almost never talked ever since the incident. I still missed the way we had been, but ending our friendship was for the best. He texted me once. Telling me that he had gotten married in Vegas with a stripper he met one night. I always wondered if I pushed him into being who he is and where he is right now. Jace and I still had our "friendship" arrangement. We continued avoiding each other throughout the week but when Sundays come, I was hardly away from him. No matter how much I deny it, my feelings for him never went away. To be honest, those feelings seem to grow even more each time we saw each other. One time over Thanksgiving break, we were over at his parent's place. We ran into each other in the hall and at that point, he pushed me against the wall and ran his hands across my cheek, down my lips, jaw and then down my throat. He leaned in and I managed to push him away before he got the chance to kiss me. That was the last time our body ever came close in contact with each other. I didn't understand what my feelings were towards him, but I was glad that this friendship thing was going on pretty well. Considering there had been no fights between him and Spencer for the past months. Speaking of Spencer.... He's amazing. He treats me as if im the only person who matters in the world, or at least his world. We were practically inseparable. Our sleeping arrangements were normally spent in his bed. There had been a few hot and steamy make out sessions or maybe even more to that but when things went any further, he would always stop us before we went THERE and I appreciated him for that. We were still waiting and I loved how much he respects me and doesn't push me. Carly and I still attended all of his fights and he still haven't lost a fight but he would sometimes come home with a couple bruises or a cracked rib or two. For Christmas, he took me home to Miami and introduced me to his mom and sister, Avery. His mom was thrilled when she found out that Spencer was finally going to introduce his girlfriend to her. I helped her cook and we also spent a day shopping together after we sent the boys to run some errands. By the end of the night, I was daydreaming how my life could be in his family, I know having those thoughts was a little to fast since Spencer and I have been dating for about 4 months, It never hurts to imagine. I wasn't ready for marriage yet but I knew that someday, I hope I walk down the aisle with him waiting up front.

Spencer decided to stay in Miami until after Christmas break but I decided to head back to L.A to spend the New Years with Carly and her family. I walked out the airport and pulled my phone out to call Spencer and let him know I have landed. My hear ached at the thought of not being with him for 2 weeks.

"Hey babe, you land okay?"

"Yea! I'm just waiting for Carly."

"Well alright. I'll call you later. Happy New Years Mac, I love you."

I bit my lip and smiled "I love you too Spencer." I hung up and seconds later, I was tackled by Carly.

"Oh my effin god Mac! I missed you!"

"I missed you too Carly." We got my things in the car and fought thru the holiday traffic. While we were in the car, Carly was on the phone with Cory and my cell went off and I saw that it was a text from Jace.

Jace:

You gonna be at the house tonight?

Me:

Yeah. Are you?

I waited for a response but was disappointed when I didn't get any. Carly's voice broke through my thoughts

"Ooohh is that lover boy?"

"Um... Yeah.." I have no idea why I just lied to Carly but it would seem suspicious if I correct myself now.

"Did you guys have "fun" in Miami?"

"Sorry to burst your bubble but we didn't have THAT much fun."

"Seriously? You're torturing that poor guy Mac. It's been 4 months, almost 5."

"I know, I know. I'm just waiting for the right time. It'll be soon.... I hope."

She shut the music off and looked at me "Mac, at some point he's going to give up if it's not soon."

"Alright alright. So how's the family?" I asked hoping to know how Jace was and as well as Katherine and James.

"They're good. They're excited to see you. They've missed you over Christmas."

"Aww, I missed them too."

"Be prepared to be bombarded with hugs and presents!"

"Presents?"

"Yeah."

"You guys shouldn't have. I mean I- I didn't get you guys anything."

Carly reached over to grab my hand "Its okay Mac. We wanted you to feel what real Christmas was like since you didn't have that growing up." She turned her attention back to the road and began to speak again. "By the way, have you talked to your dad?"

"I've called him a few times but he never picked up. It's not like I expected him too."

"I'm sure he was busy.... But switching topics, what did Spencer get you?!?!"

"Ugh Carly, I am the worst girlfriend ever!" I groaned

"What happened!?!?"

I pulled out my necklace to show her "It's from Spencer." When we stopped at a red light, she turned and studied the necklace.

"Mac, it's beautiful. What's the big deal?"

"I know it is. But the problem was, I didn't get him a present. I was with him the whole time but I never thought that he may have gotten me something."

"I'm sure he understands. Having you is probably the best gift he has ever gotten. I'm sure of that. He's a good guy Mac."

"I know he is." I clutched the necklace in my hand and sighed into the seat.

"By the way, why did he get you a sideways feather necklace?"

"Well when I was little, I remembered my dad telling me a story about how my mom would always brush a feather on her belly when she was pregnant with me and I would always kick to it. He said that was the biggest beautiful smile he had ever seen on her before she died. That was the only story my dad ever told me about my mom."

Carly reached over, giving me a quick hug and a sincere smile before focusing on driving once the light turned green.
