"Promise me something Mac?"
"What is it?"
His sexy smirk was back for a second before his face grew serious.
"If you two ever move past this, please don't go back to him just because he is the father. You deserve to be happy too Mac." I looked deep into his green eyes and hoped he saw the truth in my response.
"I promise."
"Good. I'll wait out here for Cory. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to see Jace right now."
"Thank you for everything Spencer." I hugged him and let him cup my face for a few seconds before walking in the door.
"Mackenzie?!" I immediately heard Carly's concerned voice before I saw her round the corner and crush herself to me, being careful not to touch my stomach. "Oh my god. I've been so worried about you."
"Didn't Spencer tell you I was fine?"
"Yes, but that doesn't stop me from worrying." She pulled away and I noticed her tear streaked face.
"I'm sorry Carls, I just really needed time to myself for a while."
"I understand."
Cory came up behind her and kissed her on the cheek, then pulled me into a soft hug and kissed the top of my head.
"Is Spencer outside?" He asked once we pulled away. I nodded.
"I should take him home. I'm sorry this is happening baby girl." I lightly laughed.
"You do know, since I'm having a baby, I'm not sure 'baby girl' is the right name for me." Carly and Cory both rolled their eyes at my failed attempt to lighten the mood. They quickly kissed and she grabbed my hands as he walked out the door.
"You ready, or do you need more time?"
"No, I'm ready. I need to do this."
We walked into the living room, and I almost chickened out when I saw Jace sitting on the couch. He lifted his head when he heard us come in and started to stand but James held him down. His eyes were puffy and bloodshot red, and his cheeks were still wet. James tried to smile warmly at me, but it came out more as a grimace, and Katherine looked like a wreck. She came over and wrapped her arms around me and began crying. I realized why everyone was upset. They all thought I wouldn't come back and that I would leave and take their grandchild with me.
I squeezed her waist and whispered so only she could hear me.
"I won't take your grandson away from you mom, I promise."
"Oh honey, I'm glad you won't but that's not what I'm worried about. I'm hurting for you Mac, I love you as if you were my own daughter." She kissed my cheek before they all left, leaving Jace and I alone in the room. A few minutes of silence went by until Jace finally spoke up.
"Baby-."
"Don't you dare call me that!" I hissed through gritted teeth.
"Mackenzie please, I messed up. I know." A choked sob escaped and his tears started falling harder. "I don't remember anything, you have to believe that I wouldn't do that you baby."
"Why Jace? How could you do this to me? How could you do this to your son?!" I fell into a chair near me and kept my eyes on him.
"I didn't... I don't know. I don't remember anything from that night! I was at the party and then the next thing I know, I'm waking up to Carly screaming at me and Kendall is in my bed with me. But I swear I didn't touch her, or do anything with her. I love you too much!"
