Carly and I were still stuck in traffic due to everyone trying to get home to their family. I've already asked about mom and dad, but have yet to find out how Jace was. Instead of trying to make up an excuse to find out, I decided to just go for it.
"So,how's Jace?"
"Ugh. Don't even get me started with him. He's so moody lately." She groaned
"How so?"
She snorted "He acts as if he was on his man period or something. I mean ever since school let out for winter break, he's been rude and an ass to everyone he talks to. He didn't even stayed long enough during Christmas. He ate and left. I swear, that guy needs to get laid. ASAP!"
I thought to myself. Spencer and I left for Miami the day school let out for break. I may have sounded ridiculous thinking me leaving for Miami had anything to do with Jace being moody. I think way to highly of myself. I decided not to add a comment to what Carly just said and kept my mouth shut until we were close to her parent's house.
"Holy shit.... This is the party? I thought you said it was only a few people.." Cars were lined up blocks from the house and people were walking toward it. We thankfully got inside the garage before people started blocking the driveway.
"This isn't even as big as last years. Trust me!" We got out of the car, grabbed my things and walked through crowds of people and made it upstairs to her bedroom. When we walked in, Katherine and James were already waiting in her room, followed by hugs.
"Oh sweetie, we missed you!"
"How's my baby girl doing?" I laughed as I hugged them both back.
"I've been great. I missed you guys too. But what are you doing up here? You have a party to host downstairs!"
"Party my ass. We had to say hi. We missed you too much. And plus, we have gifts for you!" Mom squealed as she walked back over to the bed to retrieve the gifts.
"Oh my god. You guys.... You shouldn't have." I felt awful for not getting them anything.
"Oh shut up Mac. We've been over this before. We wanted to do this for you." Carly responded as she pulled me over to the bed
I took a deep breath in and grabbed the first box with Carly's name written on it. She got me a new dress and informed me that it was specifically used for tonight and a Chanel clutch that I absolutely loved. James and Katherine spoiled me the most with a new MacBook, and a pair of UGGS. I just sat there and stared at them through blurry eyes. Katherine and James both kissed my cheek and gave me a sincere smile before Katherine spoke.
"Mac, there's something James and I would like to talk to you about." I was confused as to what they may be talking about but nodded
"Okay, what is it?" James spoke this time looking at Katherine before turning back to me.
"Well since we treat you like our daughter, and Carly seems to love you as a sister, we'd like it if you called us mom and dad from now on. Mackenzie, you've been part of this family since the day we met you and calling us James and Katherine seems a bit odd. So from now on, call us mom and dad. If you'd like of course." I was beyond speechless. These people have been my family since I've moved here from Georgia. I've always thought of them as family but for me to call them mom and dad, I was beyond grateful to have met loving parents as Katherine and James.
"I'd love to call you both Mom and Dad." I said as I gave them both tight hugs. Carly joined in and after a few seconds of teary/emotional hugs, they all got up leaving me to get ready. I began putting the things away and was down to my last box when I heard a soft knock and saw the door being pushed open.
"Hey Mac." Dear lord, I missed hearing his sexy voice.
"Jace... I didn't know you were going to be here."
"Well I did ask if you were coming to the house..." He replied nervously
"Right." The room was filled with tension. My heart started racing from the sight of him. I hated that I had these kinds of feelings for this guy. I hated that i wanted him to try to kiss me again, but this time... I wouldn't stop him. We sat there, staring at each other before he came over and sat right next to me, handing me a piece of paper.
"Merry Christmas Mac."
I grabbed the paper and stared at him in confusion, all I could say was "I don't understand...."
"Just take a look." He huffed and tilted his lips up a little. I slowly opened up the paper. I gasped when I saw a beautiful feather drawn on it. I looked up at Jace and shook my head in wonder and shocked.
"How did you know?"
"How couldn't I? You practically drew it on everything put in front of you."
He was right. Whenever I had a pen, paper, or napkin, I would always draw that feather on there. I didn't realize he would notice it. I always knew Spencer would but it was surprising when Jace did.
"Jace, the drawing is beautiful. Thank you." He laughed and gave me a suspicious smile.
"What?" I asked
"That drawing isn't your REAL gift Mac.."
"I don't process..."
"That paper is a sketch of the tattoo I'm going to give you. The tattoo is your gift."
"Jace... I-" Before I could finish, he cut me off.
"I overheard you and Carly talking about how you wanted a tattoo someday... So why not now?"
"Okay."
"What? Really?" He asked, clearly surprised by my answer. That makes the two of us.
"Yeah. It's about time I got a tattoo." He looked at me with a cheeky smile. There was something different about him. He looked so kind and gentle. He leaned over to give me a hug and all I wanted was to stay wrapped in his arms. It was practically the first time our body came in contact with each other since last month. And his touch made my body crave him.
"Thank you again Jace. For this, and for everything." I said as we pulled away from the hug
"Don't worry about it Mac. It's not hard to love you." He winked before getting up and leaving the room so I could finally get ready.
I fixed my hair and makeup and slipped on my new dress. I grabbed a few dainty jeweleries to finish off the outfit. I gave myself one last look in the mirror, smiling at myself from the transformation I had accomplished. I walked out of the room and headed downstairs to meet Carly.
"OMG! You look hot!" Carly squealed as soon as she saw me. Obviously proud of her creation.
"I love it! Thanks again Car."
"No problem. I knew you would love it." She winked as Cory came over with drinks. They left to entertain the other guest, leaving me all alone. I tried looking for Jace but making sure it wasn't that obvious. All of a sudden, my body heated up as I spotted him staring at me, while biting his lip. My face flamed and I tried to act as if I wasn't that affected.
