The sky was dark as the stars shone brightly beside the moon in the early hours of the AM, a time normal people are asleep. Obviously that means Usagi was awake.
Lying on her bed with a lamp beside her, Usagi read her book "The Melancholy of Rachel Lark" while listening to music on her phone with her new headphones, which shone neon blue and had neko ears perched on the top. To the outside world, there was no noise as she sat, but from her point of view she was silently jamming to only the best high voltage rock.
"As I stand divided by truth and lies, my mind is swirling with thoughts of what is to come; whether or not what I know is true, there will remain a viper coiled in my path waiting for me to stumble. They are unaware of what has surfaced in my mind, but nevertheless it will strike them down too– thus I've grown fond of the viper that troubles me so."
Sighing, Usagi marked her page before closing the book, trailing her fingers across the cover depicting a silhouette of a girl as she stood on the center of a line trailing down the center; on one side there were all the colors of life, on the other the colors of death.
She reached for her phone to turn off her music and headphones as they blared a song called The Dissident. Breathing heavily of boredom and the inability to sleep, she simply gazed at the ceiling, tracing patterns with her eyes until she let out a cry similar to that of an anguished whale.
"It sucks wanting to sleep being not being able to," she thought to herself, the main factor of her inability to do so being how she was going to be in a fight later that day.
Rolling on her side, she faced the door and directed her gaze onto the crack between it and the floor as dim light peeked from beneath. Usagi bit her lip in thought before sitting upright and swinging her legs over the side of the bed.
Upon gingerly opening the door, she crept out into the hall before glancing out into the living area, managing to catch a glimpse of white hair against the armrest of a couch.
Confidently she took a step forward, but then the fear of bothering him stabbed her in the back as she quickly hid behind the wall again. Regaining her bearings and resolving to see Killua, she began her slow traverse back towards him.
After what felt like ages, she eventually made it over to him. Upon seeing the way he appeared as he slept, all insecurities about walking out to see him at two in the morning vanished.
Her face turned pink. "Damn."
Despite her increasingly red countenance, she was unable to tear away; he looked so peaceful with his fluffy hair framing his face, eyes carefully closed. She found herself unable to look away from one detail in specific– the way his lips parted slightly in peaceful sleep.
Of course, the way his chest rose and fell with his light breathing, how one arm draped over the side of the couch as the other lay rested across his front, and how one leg was straightened and the other bent and leaning against the back of the cushions were also quite nice to look at.
"He looks so awkward..." Usagi stared harder. "I love it."
Looking from side to side, Usagi then focused back on Killua before exhaling lightly. She sat noiselessly on the end of his makeshift bed, hands folded over her lap as she looked at him with a soft expression.
Losing herself in the moment, she began to lean forward, placing her arms on either side of him as she inched closer to his face. With hardly any distance between them, she was able to study his features better before raising a steady hand and shifting his fringe slightly so she could see him better.
