Where X To X Run

The morning after Usagi's encounter with Sachiko, the girl still felt jumpy and had absolutely no idea of how to deal with the situation. She could ask for help, but unfortunately unless the paradigm magically shifted, Killua wouldn't be hearing anything about this anytime soon.

As Usagi lay in her bed, staring at the ceiling, she tried to sort through her thoughts aimlessly, repeating their conversation over and over to fully assess the situation– each repeat was the same.

There was a knock on her door, and Killua peeked his head in. "Everyone's awake downstairs. Are you coming or sleeping?" he asked, unaware of what was happening.

Usagi draped and arm over her eyes before asking, "What time is it?"

"Almost eleven."

"I'll be down in a minute."

The door clicked shut, and she kicked her blankets off before hopping onto the ground. She glanced out the window and would've sworn she saw Sachiko watching her from the darkness.

Usagi shivered before looking away and walking out of the door.

Footsteps echoing off the wooden stairs, the group of three looked up at her once she became visible. Alluka waved, and Usagi felt a pang in her chest before raising her hand slightly in response.

"Morning, Usagi," Leorio greeted, pushing a plate towards an empty seat at the counter. "We made waffles earlier."

"Coolio, foolio," Usagi rhymed in monotone, still groggy from pretending to wake up after pretending to sleep. "Ya got any cinnamon?"

He reached into a cabinet before sliding it across the counter to her. She thanked him before sprinkling some onto her breakfast and then drowning it in maple syrup.

She took a hesitant bite as Alluka and Leorio stated at him. "What?" she asked, covering her mouth with her hand.

"Does it taste good, Onee-chan?" Alluka asked, hopeful.

"Yeah, tastes like a waffle."

"A good waffle?" Leorio pressed.

"Sure thing, Brosky."

"YES," Alluka shouted before high-fiving Leorio. He looked happy for her.

"She helped male it for you," Leorio explained, though Usagi barely listened.

Her eyes went blank as her lips creased, her mind wandering to what Sachiko had said.

"The little one goes first."

"Usagi?"

Head snapping up, Usagi gasped, "yeah?"

"You zoned out for a moment there. Alluka said she's glad you like it," Leorio explained.

"Oh!" Usagi forced a smile into her face. "I'm happy you made it."

Alluka ran over to hug Usagi, and Usagi made sure not to let go too soon.

Later that day, Killua walked up to Usagi as she sat on the couch, hand resting against her cheek.

"Hey, Usagi," he greeted before plopping down on the couch beside her.

"Hello," Usagi replied, trying not to think if her sister for a moment. "Whatcha doing?"

"Not much, just a little bored," he stated, crossing his arms. Usagi nodded.

"Wanna watch something with me?"

"Sure. Like what?"

"Whatever's on TV, I guess." Usagi picked up the remote and flicked to a random channel– it ended up being the news.
