Nostalgia

The morning following her return, Usagi took a walk outside to view how much home had changed. Cherry blossom trees swayed in the wind, their blossoms long since out of full bloom; looking down the slope of the mountain were the homes of the Ametsuchi generations before her, and upwards the snow-capped tip.

She hated how beautiful it all was.

At around noon that day, Usagi prepared to have a 'conversation' with Sachiko. She had been informed to dress traditionally, so Chi helped her put on a kimono.

"Just go with what she says, Usagi," Chi advised, patting her shoulder.

Usagi nodded before going outside. Walking up the mountainside, she saw various ponds with koi swimming inside, explaining the rippling noises she'd heard the night before.

It wasn't long before she could see a level wooden platform along the side of the slope, a natural stone path leading up towards it. There was a small table in the center, and two seats– one of which Sachiko was sitting on.

The girls made eye contact before Sachiko looked her twin up and down. "My, has it been a long time since I've seen you in one of those."

"I could say the same," Usagi noted, sitting across from her, "you usually wear whorish dresses."

Sachiko sneered. "Will you refrain from making such comments for the next half hour, if you please."

Usagi didn't respond, and instead looked down at the view below. "It's very beautiful up here."

"Indeed."

In the silence that followed, Sachiko poured Usagi a cup of tea, followed by herself. "I am not sure about you, but frankly I am not too worried about the formalities that should follow, so you are welcome to drink while you still have a functioning trachea."

Usagi held her tongue, knowing that she wasn't kidding. Picking up the cup with both hands, Usagi took a sip before asking, "What did you want to talk about?"

"Well, as it is, we are having some issues with the Zoldyck family. You already know of the arranged marriage between Killua and me, but did you know that his family is actually quite angry at us despite the payment.

"You see, they know that you follow him like a lost dog, and are quite infuriated about it. They say that if we want to take the offer they have so graciously provided, we mustn't 'play' with him like that."

"Define 'play.'"

Sachiko waved her hand. "Oh, you know, somehow making him fall for you when in reality he will be mine in the end. Do you understand where I'm going with this?"

"Unfortunately. Do you want me to stay here until the marriage is finalized? We're only fifteen, Sachiko."

"Oh, no, that's not what I mean at all. I am trying to help you, Usagi. In case you have not realized, Father is rather pissed at you."

Usagi snorted. "So what do you want me to do."

"Change, Usagi. You can't keep leading him on as you are; you need to let me have him."

"Why do I have to let you? You'll already get him anyway. Speaking of, stop talking about him like he's something you can just take," Usagi spoke, her final words to him eating away at her insides.

Sachiko pursed her lips, taking a drink of tea. "Hotaru told me your memories have reinstated."

"We're done talking, Sachiko," Usagi breathed, her heart beginning to spaz in her chest as she stood.

"She said it was the doings of the man she had taken control over."

"I said we're done, Sachiko."
