Viper's POV:
Dean and I were sitting on the bed, looking over the recent newspapers when Harley barged through the door like a man on steroids. Dean and I looked up from the newspapers in unison and stared for a second.
"Well hey there, Hulk. How goes it?" I joked. She rolled her eyes.
"I think we may have found a solution to our California case." She spoke, standing across from me.
"The 'bear attack'?" Dean questioned. She nodded and I gestured for her to go on.
"So get this," she started, sitting on the bed next to me. "I called the woman's son and he actually answered."
"Yeah, people usually do answer the phone when someone calls." I stated. She rolled her eyes, yet again, and continued.
"But he seems to know a little bit more than anyone else thinks. He questioned me, didn't give any significant info, Ben asked me if I suspected foul play with the case." She stammered.
"So, you think he knows what really happened?" I asked.
"I don't see why not," she said. "I mean after all, when dad died we did every once of digging, investigating, stayed up night and day to get to the bottom of it. What's to say this kid wouldn't do that same?" She asked.
"You've got a point." Dean admitted.
"Yeah, I guess so. So are we going to question the kid?" I asked.
"We are," Sam's voice erupted from the doorway. I looked over in his direction for a second. "You and Dean are gonna go to Nevada, not too far from our case." He finished. Dean and I shared an odd look.
"Sammy, are-are you-" I stuttered dramatically, putting my hand on my chest. "breaking up with us?"
He rolled his eyes at my dramatic performance and crossed his arms.
"I just think it would be better if two people went to interrogate the kid. I mean after all he did lose his mother. The last thing we need to do is scare him, and his information, away by showing up like the swat team." He explained. I nodded, as did Dean.
"So what's our case?" I questioned Harley, gesturing between Dean and I.
"32 year old male, swears he saw the neighbors husband lurking outside of his house Monday afternoon. Says his neighbor, Mrs. Johnson, called him that morning in a full blown panic, next thing he knew she was ripped to shreds in the living room." She said, handing us a police file and a picture from the scene of the crime.
"So, he saw Mr.Johnson roaming around before the accident, it could be murder." Dean stated.
"Well, not exactly." Sam said.
"Mr.Johnson has been dead for 5 years now," Harley finished for him. "wood chipper accident at work."
"Well that would explain the odd gashes all over the Mrs." I butted in, looking through the pictures.
"Any ideas?" I asked no one in particular.
"Zombie apocalypse?" Dean laughed. I glared at him and his far fell serious. "We better get a move on before any more dead loved ones come back to life." He sighed and stood up, tapping me on the knee in the process. I sat still for a minute and stared at the pictures.
"You comin?" Harley asked, leaning in the doorway.
"Oh, yeah. Just a sec." I said. She left the room and I stuck the papers in my duffle bag and through it over my shoulder.
"Alright, here's the plan." Dean stated, I was now sitting in the front this time and Harley and Sam shared the back seat. Sam's legs were crushed nearly to his chest. For a moment I felt bad but that soon subsided at the sight of a giant man crushed like a sardine in a can. "Me and Vi are gonna drive Baby to Nevada, where we'll drop you guys off, you'll hot wire a car and head for California. After everything's done we'll meet back at some motel." He finished. I nodded and saw Harley and Sam nod in confirmation.
"Sam, would you like to switch me spots?" I leaned over to ask Sam. "It's gonna be a long ride back there."
"That would be great."
Dean had eventually pulled over and let us switch and I assumed my napping position in the back seat next to Harley. I had slowly started to drift off and a few hours seemed to flash by in minutes. Just as I went to open my eyes I stopped at the sound of my name.
"Yeah, she's asleep." Harley said.
"What's been going on?" Sam asked her.
"I don't know, man. Something's not right. I know that much."
"You think it's serious?" I heard Dean ask.
"I don't know, but I hope we find out soon." She replied.
I got aggregated at the conversation and yawned loudly. The conversation quickly died off to silence as I sat up.
"What's up?" I fake-yawned.
"Nothin, we're comin into Nevada now." Dean replied.
"Ah," I stated. I saw his eyes dart towards me in the rear view mirror and I winked at him playfully. He smirked and looked back at the road.
Harley's POV:
I was hoping Viper hadn't heard our prior conversation. Although we were doing it to help her she would take offense to it and take it the wrong way. About 30-45 minutes later we arrived at an old junk yard. Sam hopped out of the Impala, followed by me. It was around 4:35 pm and we knew it would be difficult to hot wire a car and a junk yard that's open and in the daylight. I walked into the main building of the junk yard while Sammy figured out what wheels we'd be jackin.
"Hi there." I smiled in a flirty way at the man working the counter, holding back my gags.
"Well hello there, how can I help you?" He smiled back.
"Well, I was wonderin if you had any wheels I could barrow for a bit?" I batted my eyelashes at him. It was in moments like that I thanks my mother for ungodly long, jet black, eyelashes. He blushed and looked like we was gonna agree to it but changed his mind last minute. He sighed and looked down.
"I'm sorry ma'am I can't really do that." He smiled shyly. I frowned and gave Sam the signal to hot wire it, that my plan of borrowing it had failed. A loud bang, which I assumed was Sammy, rung thought the building. "What the hell?" The guy mumbled, going to walk around me.
"Well, I be damned!" I called out loudly, catching his attention. "65' fastback? How'd you get ahold of this dime piece?" I asked, no longer faking interest. I walked around the car, grazing my fingers on the paint lightly.
"Old man brought it in a few days ago," He told me. "Said it was his wife's and seeing it just 'ripped him to pieces'." The last part stuck out to me.
"Who was it? If you don't mind me asking."
"Johnson, I think." He stated. I nodded and smiled, hearing the sound of a car start up.
"Well, that's my ride! Thanks for everything Mister!" I called out, rushing out the door, getting in the car with Sammy as we sped off.
