>> Hello! So uhm, this is my first fanfic and I decided to start out with a name I came up with. As I start to get the gist of this I'll start using things like y/n and l/n in other fanfics, but for now you can just replace Hikaru with your name. I know not many people will see this, but I hope I'll soon get more people to read my fanfics! I really enjoy writing these, and I hope you guys enjoy them too. I have to admit, I am entirely basing this off of the anime and not the manga. And Levi WILL APPEAR SOON I promise you that. They live in the underground cave that was shown in the OVA in No Regrets. Well that's all I have to say so have enjoy reading!<<
I woke up feeling drowsy. My head was on Jack's chest, and I realized we fell asleep together. I saw the ladder still on the ground, so I guessed that was why. Yesterday was filled with tears and sadness. I breathed in his orangey scent, not really wanting to wake him up.
"Mmph..." Jack murmured as I shifted slightly out of his embrace to sit up. He opened one eye slightly and then opened the other. I yawned, stretching my arms out.
"Come on sleepy head, wake up." I nudged him, putting my feet on the ground and standing up.
"It's already morning?... Nahh, I'm gonna go back to bed."
I sighed, "Okay, I guess you're just going to miss the omelet that I can smell..."
He jumped out of bed, "Omelete?! Race you!"
I laughed, running after him. It was like yesterday didn't even happen. Maybe it didn't, possibly it was a dream. But.... it definitely wasn't. The ladder, us sleeping in one bed... that's definitely enough proof that it happened.
We ran down the stairs, hurrying to the table. Grandma would be helping mom out by now. Instead, dad was helping her, learning how to cook for once. Grandpa was setting the table already.
"You young fellers look mighty energetic today." He cracked a smile, a fake one at least.
I also fake smiled, "Yep, come sit down with us." I pulled out the chair for him.
"Thank you child." Mom slid an omelet each to us, and I was going to ask what the special occasion was, but refrained myself from doing so.
We silently ate the good breakfast in peace until Jack said, "I'm going to join the Scout Regiment."
Without hesitation I added, "I'm going too."
Grandpa dropped his spoon, dad for once stopped eating, and my mother just gaped at the two of us. We silently ate and finished our omelets in a matter of seconds.
"Mother, father, grandpa, gran-," I hesitated before I could complete the word, "may we be excused?"
She was going to object and I interrupted, "Thank you!" I took Jack's hand and flew out the door. We headed to an empty spot where no houses stood, and he looked at me as if I were crazy.
"Why the hell did you also say you're going to join?! I mean, I know what happened last night, and I don't reme-,"
"Shut up! I told you that I'd always be there for you didn't I?! Can't you just accept it? It's not only that, but if you didn't know, I've always wanted to make a difference. I'm not going to be some stupid brat that thinks she's safe behind some dumb walls. Heck, where are we anyway? It's a cave under Wall Sina apparently. The safest of the safe if worst comes to worst. But it's not entirely safe down here, can't you see?! We're rejects just because we've never seen the whole sky. Never seen pure daylight. Don't you want those things?" I stopped my ranting as I threw those words at him. Jack was shocked of course, this was the first time I've ever yelled at him in three years. I could actually see his cheeks turning red from embarrassment. Mine were too, I couldn't lie.
"We'll enroll together then." He said deciding.
"Y-yeah."
"Well, then we better start training!"
"What? How? Assuming we do get buffed up, we don't have the money to grant us citizenship to the outside."
"I have a plan. But, we'll have to practice it for a few months. It's a one shot thing."
I smiled. This was the Jack I was waiting for.
