Training in the Cadet Corps was hard. The 3DMG looked easy and it was, at least for me. Since I was so light weight I didn't have to really shift it. I just had to make sure my stance didn't falter. Since Jack was a bit heavier than me, he had a hard time but got through it. We graduated, but didn't make it in the top ten. It's not like I wanted to join the Military Police anyway. Jack's hazel eyes widened at the candidates who were eligible, and I could see that he admired them very much.
"You know, I'm going to try hard enough to beat him." He said with a smile after the ceremony was over.
"It's been three years..." I sighed.
"Yeah, time sure flies by quickly. I still can't believe the excuse Mikasa came up with."
"You do not know how hard I tried not to laugh." I cracked.
"And Sasha, she was running for at least five hours."
"She really still hasn't learned her lesson. To celebrate, do you want to come over to my room?"
"Can I? I mean, even though we've graduated, some of the girls might be scared."
"Oh whatever. Really, Ruthie would be fine with it."
"Okay."
Ruthie was the girl I was bunking with. She's the first girl friend I've had in a long time. Nice, smart, and sweet, she was easily likeable.
I had already packed my things except for the change of clothes tomorrow, and my piano.
"I still can't believe that you were able to negotiate that in." Jack laughed.
"Yeah. I mean, I had to." I sat down, and he sat down on the bench with me. I placed my warm hands on the keys and started playing a familiar tune. Jack looked at me and smiled. We sang along together, the first time in five years. We still hadn't forgotten the lyrics, neither the notes. Being fifteen, our voices had matured and grown. To be honest, we sounded better. We slowed down, looking into each other's eyes. "I'll be home-ward bound... a-gain." I held on the last note, and my breath. Jack leaned in, and his warm lips touched mine. We would never had known that our first kisses, would be with each other. I froze, and our lips melted together. I placed my hand on his chest. He grabbed my hand, and I pulled away.
"I-I'm not ready." I said awkwardly.
"I'm ready when you are. I promise, I'll wait." He also said awkwardly, "because.. I love you."
I stared into his bright, hazel eyes as he stared into my golden ones.
I heard the creak of a door. "Aghhh! I'm sorry, I ruined it didn't I?" Ruthie stepped inside, her face bright pink. Mine turned pinker than hers. Jack stared at the ground, I could tell he was also blushing. He took his hand off mine as it fell onto the bench. An awkward silence washed over the cabin.
I broke it first, "Don't tell anyone please!"
"I-I won't! I swear!" Ruthie said, shaking her hands in front of her.
"This never happened." Jack added. He left the room, closing the door.
"How long have you been stalking us?" I questioned her.
"Uh, right about when you stopped playing the piano."
"Ahhh!" I cried out, "You can't tell anyone, okay?!" I grabbed her by the collar and started shaking her out of embarrassment.
"I told you, I swear that I won't tell!" I stopped.
"Sorry."
"It's fine. But anyway... you guys are totally an item, right?"
"Uhhhmmm I'm not sure about that."
"Mhm. Just admit it, you looovve him."
"I-I don't know!" I quickly changed into my pajamas and slipped into the covers. "Good night!"
