Eren's Trial

"Yes, he did." Mikasa hesitantly admitted, "But he also saved me twice before. Once, when I fell prey to a Titan, he charged in and killed it, protecting me. The second time was when he shielded Armin and I from cannon fire. I would like you to take these facts into consideration."

"Objection." The Military Police officer said, "We believe she is biased. At a young age her parents died and she was adopted into the Jaeger family. She and Eren killed three men who were charged with kidnapping and robbery. It was filed under legitimate self-defense, but their human priorities aren't very straight."

The crowd started murmuring at first, but then it turned into accusation.

"You're saying he's a Titan hiding in human form?"

"Wait, maybe she is also one of his kind!" A person pointed at Mikasa who was standing at my side. Armin was standing at my other, and we all looked shocked. I slammed my hands on the brown, wood railing.

"She is not one of his kind! And, it is not completely biased!" I argued forcefully, "Eren had also saved me, and everyone living in Trost. You cannot ignore that fact! While we were fighting for our lives in the support tower, Eren fought for us in Titan form! He was being a decoy so we could all get out alive. And because of him, we did. You're all foolish people, you're only thinking of yourselves! The Military Police just wants to stay safe inside Wall Sina, while the Scout Regiment is fighting for the greedy, fat pigs you are! You weren't at the battle, you didn't see your friends die, so why should you be making all the calls? Mikasa is a good soldier and friend, and there is no way she'd kill any of us. Would you rather two, innocent little kids fight for their lives and go through hell, or let them die or be raped because you said they shouldn't to get their hands soiled?!"

The room quieted, everyone staring at me in shock. I breathed heavily from all that shouting. Some idiot broke the silence, also accusing me, "She-she's probably also a Titan too!"

"Y-yeah!"

"That's why she's defending them!"

The crowd once again started to accuse and throw convenient speculations at all of us, and I backed away from the railing, my head slightly bowed. Armin put his hand on my shoulder. Eren threw himself forward, the force rattling his chains and sending a loud echo which drew attention to him.

"You... you all are damn cowards!" He shrieked, "They are not Titans in any way possible! So far, you've just been blurting out any accusation you can think of!"

"Wha-what are you saying?" The Military Police officer questioned, his voice slightly trembling.

"To start off with, you've never seen a Titan, so what are you afraid of? How can we afford to lose the ones with power to fight back? If you're scared to do so, then lend me your strength. Just shut up, and bet everything on me!" Eren's voice erupted.

"Take aim!" The MP officer ordered the soldier next to him. He did not hesitate, and in a flash the rifle was pointing at Eren. I saw Levi glance at me. He swung over the fence that separated us from Eren, and immediately kicked him in the face which knocked out a tooth. Levi began to pound Eren mercilessly into the ground and then back up with only his feet. He brought his head up by the hair, and kneed him in the face. The audience gaped at the sudden, violent force.

Mikasa was just about to jump over and stop Levi, but Armin and I simultaneously grabbed her wrist. "Wait, Mikasa!"

We turned our attention back to the gruesome onslaught. Levi had Eren's face pinned to the ground with his foot.

"Pain and dicipline have a long history." He spoke monotoneously, "What you need now isn't a lecture, but training. You're in a good kicking position." Levi continued. Eren's grunts of pain were the only sound heard.

"Wait, Levi." The Military Police officer spoke, "He's dangerous. What if he gets angry and transforms?"

"What are you saying?" Levi pulled on Eren's hair and brought him close to his face. "You want to dissect him, right?" After giving the officer a dull stare, he added, "While he was a Titan, he reportedly killed multiple Titans before running out of gas. As an enemy, his intellect may be a problem. He still wouldn't be a match for me though. How about you people? Those of you that are arguing against keeping him alive should think this through. Can you really kill him?"

Erwin raised his hand, "Supreme Commander, I have a proposal."

"What is it?"

He let it fall, "His Titan powers pose a threat to us. Regardless, I believe we should entrust him to Lance-Corporal Levi and taken out on an expedition."

"You'll bring Eren outside?"

"Yes. I'd like Eren's control over his Titan, and his worth to mankind to be judged based on the result of that expedition."

"Can you handle Eren Jaeger, Levi?"

"I'm certain I could kill him." Levi said, not taking his eyes off of a hunched over, and beaten up Eren. He turned around, "The problem is that there'll be no alternative." I saw Eren tremble and Levi looked over at us. Armin was clutching Mikasa's arm to his chest, and I was holding her by her wrist. She had this death look on her face, which probably meant she would kill Levi after this.

"I've made my decision." The Supreme Commander's voice boomed.
