Trost, Pt. 2

>>Levi's POV<<

I held back, analyzing the situation. I could see that a group, fresh out of cadet training, was heading towards the opposite wall. A girl with chocolate brown hair and piercing golden eyes was leading them. They successfully killed off Titans without killing themselves, and I realized that they were going to regroup with the others. Conserving gas, I made my way towards them.

In ear shot, I heard them constantly yelling the different titans approaching, and they split off before I could reach all of them. I cursed under my breath. Deciding to help the ones with the fifteen meter, I flew over to them.

"Captain Levi!" I heard a blonde girl shout in surprise. The others also turned the way she was looking.

"Don't be distracted. Continue on with the task. Do not directly engage it."

"Yes sir."

They flew around the sides, taking a few slices here and there. Eventually, the Titan flung his arm across the top of the building, catching two of the trainees. I intervened, cutting their hand off. Running on top of it's arm, I made my way to the back of it's neck. I severed it deep enough, and the titan fell down.

"Incredible." I heard them whisper as I stood on top of the Titan. The others that went after the six and eight came back, except one was missing. Their faces were full of fear and distress, but were relieved after seeing me.

I zipped up to the roof they were gathered on, "Keep making your way to the others. I'll find the ones that went after the abnormal. When I do, I'll follow after."

"Sir." The bunch saluted me, flying off.

"Now where did.."

I heard a scream, "Ruthie!"

Quickly, I headed towards the cry.

When I arrived, I saw a dead body being hugged by the golden-eyed girl. She laid him down softly, and let out a terrifying scream, "This is for Jack, Ruthie, and the others that you killed!"

Fast as lightning, using up way too much gas, she started slashing the abnormal. She was obviously trying to give it as much pain as possible to make up for the loss of her friends.

Where had I seen this before?  I remembered.

The titan fell to the ground, dead and slowly decaying. She went over to her friend's body, whispering and crying. Then, she slid off the building.

I flew over, catching her in my arms. Blood stained her clothes, tears stained her face. I made my way into a building, sitting down with her laid across another chair and in my lap. What am I doing?

I just stared at her beautiful face. Then she woke up, "Wha-," starting to cry. I covered her mouth.

When she looked like she was done I lifted my hand up.

"Name and status report." I ordered, my face showing no emotion.

She stood up with a choked voice, "Hikaru Zen, graduate of the 104th cadet squad, Captain. We're supposed to be regrouping with the others on the opposite side of the wall. The group I took with me to eliminate the abnormal died in the heat of combat. The rest of the groups went off to eliminate a fifteen, six, and eight meter." Hikaru was able to rush through all of that with willpower and a meaningful salute.

"I saw you use up most of your gas in combat. Here." I refilled her tank to at least halfway, using a fourth of my gas.

"Thank you sir." Hikaru managed to smile.

"Let's head out and follow the squad."

"Captain, what about Jack and Ruthie?"

"Tear off their cadet symbols on their jacket. That'll give you something to give their parents." She just nodded, her eyes dried up. Why did she have to go through my pain?
