My high heels click against the floor as I walk down the hallway, looking for Finnick. He left his hotel room a while ago, but I know he didn't leave for the Presidents mansion yet. It's still too early. I come to a stop a few rooms down from mine and knock on the door. Gloss opens it, already dressed for our party tonight in a silver suit. "Is Finnick here?" I ask, nervously. I don't talk to Gloss often, partly because he intimidates me, but also because it's difficult to look at him knowing the things I've done with his sister. "No. He probably already left." That's disappointing. "Isn't it a little early still?" I ask, wondering why Finnick would want to leave before the rest of us. "Katniss. It's already ten." Oh, now I feel stupid. We're late. "Were you looking for something specific from Finnick?" I swallow awkwardly, then smile. "Come on in." He leads me into his room and into the bathroom with him. He's got lines of white powder lined up on the counter next to the bathroom sink. My first thought is that it looks similar to the baking powder I used when I was baking with Peeta. I realize Gloss is looking at me because he's waiting for me to say something. "I've um never done this before." I stutter. "It's okay. Just watch what I do." He leans down towards the counter and my eyes get wide as I watch him inhale the whole line through his nose. The white powder sticks underneath his nose and in a few spots on the counter and he quickly licks it off. He looks like he's enjoying it. This stuff must work much faster than the pills I've taken before. I want to try. "Seems simple enough." He laughs in my ear as he watches me lean down, imitating him, and I try to inhale the whole line the same way he did, but I can't. I stop halfway through. My nose hurts too much to keep going. "You're fine, keep going." Gloss says, encouraging me to continue. I try again and this time I successfully snort the rest of the line. Gloss and I take turns until all the powder is gone. I found that after the first time my nose stopped burning and now my whole face has filled with a numbing sensation. I feel amazing. I walk out into the hall with Gloss, towards the elevator, and stop to push the button. "My face feels funny." I giggle, looking up at him. He's so much taller than me, it's like looking up at a skyscraper. "It's supposed to feel like that." He smirks at me, as the elevator opens. We ride the elevator down to the first floor, then I wave off my usual driver and get into the car with Gloss instead. We arrive at the Presidents mansion, and he takes my hand, helping me out of the car and walking me inside. Once we get inside though, we go our separate ways. I take one of the fancy champagne glasses off a tray and sip on it, my eyes drifting around the room. I lock eyes with a man across the room and I feel a chill run down my spine. He's staring directly at me, his expression sickeningly smug. He starts to approach me and I feel my heart start beating faster. I can tell by his face that he's my client for the night. "I've been waiting for you." He says, leaning in towards me so I can feel his breath on my face. "My apologies, I should've been here sooner." I try to smile, but I don't think it's convincing. "Yes, You should have." I swallow hard, feeling my throat tighten. "Now that your here, I don't think we should waste anymore of our time together. Especially after all the trouble I went to making sure I could get a night with you. I don't know if you noticed but there's no shortage of men just begging to buy a night with you. " He pauses, looking into my eyes, but I don't say anything. "Come with me. I've got big plans for you, Mrs. Everdeen." I do as he says, allowing him to lead me outside.
He practically drags me into his bedroom and grabs me with so much force I'm sure I'll have a bruise. He tangles his fist into my hair, nearly ripping it out and kisses me roughly on the mouth. His hand smacks against the wall and the lights turn on, then he shoves me onto the bed. I stay perfectly still, my head is thumping loudly from him shoving me. He takes his clothes off and I stay frozen, with nothing to do but watch as he climbs on top of me and yanks my dress up. He pulls my lace underwear down to my knees and shoves himself further onto me. My breath catches in my throat as his hands squeeze onto my wrists so hard I'm scared they might break. I can't stop the small whimper that escapes my mouth as tears fill my eyes. "Is this hurting you?" He asks, his thumb skimming over the center of my wrist. I nod, unable to find my voice. "Good." He smiles sadistically at me and drops my arms. He takes one hand and places it over my mouth, while his other hand stays wrapped around the headboard. I blink away the tears and try to keep steadily breathing through my mouth. You have to do this, for Prim. I remind myself of this over and over as he continually shoves me into the headboard. Finnick told me about clients like this before, ones that like to hurt us, they get off on it. I remember he said that he's seen Cashmere leave clients covered from head to toe in bruises. But, I've never had a client like this before, not even close. Some have liked to get rough, sure, but none actually tried to hurt me. I guess there's a first time for everything here, though. I fight back tears the entire time, trying to pretend this isn't happening, that I'm anywhere but here. He climbs off me and shoves me onto my side. I grit my teeth at the stinging pain I feel in where his hands have touched me. I turn over, looking up at him, my eyes wide and glistening with tears. "Stop staring at me like that!" I close my eyes and take a deep breath, gathering my strength. Then I sit up. I stare down at the bed sheets, trying to process what just happened to me. "What are you doing? I'm done with you, whore!" I glare up at him. "Go on, get out!" He kicks me in my back hard, and I jump up. Next thing I know, I'm running. I keep running as tears start streaming down my face, and I don't stop running.
A/N: I'm so proud of myself for updating I was taking way too long. But the next chapter is gonna have tons of everlark so get ready! :)
