Aaron's POV
I was so nervous, but how could I be? Why should I be, it wasn't a day for me to be nervous. It was Roni's day and she deserved it.
My mind dwelled over the last year and what it had brought me, it gave me back my best friend, it pushed me through limits and I got to watch my friends fall in love. Whether people believe it or not, Zak and Veronica were made for each other.
I sat down in the corridor with memories flying through my head of Roni. I remember when we first met, it was just after my divorce. She was kind, warm and loving which I needed. I remember how long it took me to ask her out, 3 years. I remember asking her out and all she said was yes. She practically screamed her lungs out, one of the best days of my life.
I remember leaving her for a lockdown and what happened to her was way out of control, I tore myself up about it for months. She was visited by a ghost, a demonic ghost that threw her literally out of the house. I remember the argument we had, her begging me to cleanse my house but I won't do that, I'm in this job for a reason and I'll live with what I bring home. Clearly something has to be done so we broke up but still kept in contact, she'd still come around but never stay too long.
I remember hearing the words 'I'm seeing someone', my heart broke. I thought we would end up together but it wasn't meant to be. It broke me to see her happy with someone else but I would hate seeing her miserable with me and she deserved to be happy. I sucked it up and met Carter but I knew he never was good enough, not for her. Though who is good for her now I would never guessed he'd be good enough for her back then, Zak.
My mind again flickered to the day I heard Roni was moving to Seattle. How angry I was, how broken I was. I knew she'd get distant and soon our friendship wouldn't exist and I was right, 5 months in Seattle she hardly called, hardly texted and she never visited. I even went to Seattle and she wouldn't answer the phone to meet up, I thought then that we would never meet again.
Zak would comfort me when I needed it, when he spoke of Roni his eyes fluttered and his smile would consume his face. I knew he liked her but I thought it was merely something he wanted and Zak always gets what he wants. But I never thought they'd fall in love, still to this day my heart still skips a beat but in a good way.
A year ago Roni called me telling me she was moving back to Sin City, she apologised her butt off about neglecting our friendship but I wasn't worried as my best friend was coming home. She'd be back in my arms, I remember telling Zak and he thought she was coming home single but he was wrong and so was I. I didn't think she'd come back home with Carter still in Seattle.
So over the year huge events took place, Roni fell in love with Zak, Zak fell in love with Roni, I was happy they found love and Roni was severely possessed. I couldn't even begin to say how much regret I feel when I sent Roni to England, I couldn't even look at her nor Zak. Roni was possessed because of us, because of our jobs. She got me thinking cleansing isn't so bad and I tried it. I'd do anything for Roni that she needed, and she needed to be saved. I just didn't think Zak would be her saviour in the end.
I sat here smiling from ear to ear, it might've been a fucked up year but sitting here now it was all worth it. Through life you're given obstacles, rejection, loss, heart break but then love comes in a triumphs them all. Love conquers everything and today love was the main focus.
The big white double doors opened and Roni emerged in a stunning lace mermaid wedding dress, with a gorgeous vintage vail over her face.
"You're a sight for sore eyes." I stood up I'm amazement. "You looking absolutely positively beautiful. Roni look at you!" She was a vision in white. She was a goddess.
"Aaron stop it" she blushed. "Aaron I'm getting married." She awed.
"And I'm walking you down that aisle." I winked at her. "You ready?"
"I've never been more ready. But I wanna thank you. Thank you for everything, I know it hasn't been easy but none of this would've been possible if it wasn't for you. I love you." She kissed my cheek.
"The bride isn't suppose to cry" I babbled.
"Sssh! It's my day, I'll cry" she sulked then laughed.
"Let's go princess" I looped my arm around her and we headed off down to the paddock. "He is waiting for you." I smiled at her, she gripped my arm harder but I reassured her it was okay.
Here we go...
