I'll Protect You (Father Genji x Daughter Reader)

"Papa... when will mama come home? I miss her..." the little girl said as she sat in Genjis lap. "She'll be back... one day (Y/N). She's just somewhere else for now..." Genji said quietly as he hugged (Y/N) tightly. Watching the horizon seemed peaceful, yet heartbreaking at the same time. A year or two ago, Genjis wife died due to cancer, leaving his only daughter left in the family. (Y/N) was only three at the time of her passing, so Genji only told her that she's on a trip, a very long trip. (Y/N) waits for her mother to return, still having hope that she'll come home... but she'll never come. Genji holds back his tears as he watches his daughter, wishing to tell her the truth. But he knows that she wouldn't understand... not at least until she's older. (Y/N) yawned as she holds onto Genjis arm, looking towards the horizon as the sun goes away. "I think it's almost time for sweetie..." "But I have to stay up... what if mama comes home and leaves again without me seeing her..." "Its alright sweetie... I'll wake you up when she returns. For now... it's time for bed little one." "Okay papa..." (Y/N) sighs as she holds onto her father as he stands up, holding his daughter in his arms. Genji takes (Y/N) to her room, and places her in bed. Covering her up, Genji kissed her forehead. "Goodnight (Y/N). Sweet dreams..." Genji said before he turned away to leave, only to feel a tug on his robe. Looking back, (Y/N) held on to his robe with her tiny hands. "Papa... can you at least stay here... until I fall alseep..." (Y/N) pleaded with a sad look. Genji sighed before sitting on the floor beside her bed, resting his head next to hers. "Okay sweetie, I'll stay for you." "Thank you papa..." (Y/N) hugged her father before trying to sleep. Genji watched over her as she fell asleep, smiling a little at the sight before him. 'I miss you... my love. I wish you could see our daughter now... I wish I could've protected you and helped. But since your passing... I've became more focused on working hard... protecting (Y/N) from the dangers of this world... I hoped you'd stay longer. For now, I'll wait for you.' Genji thought before falling alseep beside his daughter, holding onto her tiny hand. 'I'll protect you... I promise (Y/N)...'
