I Never Wanted A Goodbye... (Genji x Dying Reader)

I breathed softly, looking up at the nightsky. Sitting beside me was the love of my life, (Y/N)... oh how beautiful she was with her flowing (h/c) hair and shining (e/c) eyes that lit up the night. I would anything to protect her from any danger that the world would bring. "Genji... what do you think about the future?" (Y/N) asked quietly to me. Looking at her, I smiled under my mask. "What I see in the future? I see a beautiful wedding with a beautiful bride that would be mine. Then later on, we'd have two wonderful children running around the house. That's what I see." "And who would this bride be?" "Someone that's just as smart and beautiful like you." I chuckled while pulling her close.

(Y/N) gave me a hug before getting up. "Its getting late, we have a mission tomorrow." "I know... but I don't understand why you can't just stay here... I wish to not see you get hurt." "Genji, you must trust me, I'll be fine. You protect me no matter what, or am I wrong?" "No, I would do anything for your safety. I would even give up my life for you." I said full heartily to (Y/N). She smiled at me and turned around, heading inside. I felt a slight pain in my chest, like something was going to happen... something bad.

The night soon turned into day and we were now on our mission with Zarya, Mercy, Tracer, and Soldier:76. The mission was to take out one of the smaller Talon bases in Ilios, which at the time seemed easy... until their sniper came along. "(Y/N), stay close to me. I don't want you to get hurt." "Genji, stop worrying so much. Everything will be fine, just like the other times we've done this." (Y/N) sighed in frustration before moving on ahead.

I was about to go after her, but Tracer stopped me. "Don't worry love, I'll take care of (Y/N). You stick with the others. Okay?" "Tracer... I don't think that's a good idea." "Just protect Mercy, she the only healer we have. If she goes down, then we'll all go down." Tracer said then blinked off after (Y/N). My mind seemed to cloud in worry and fear. 'No, I can't do this. I should've told her to stay back at base. Something is off...' I caught sight of a red dot on my chest and quickly moved out of the way. A bullet had almost struck me.

"SNIPER! EVERYONE WATCH OUT!" I yelled as gunshots echoed through the Talon base. Talon soldiers stared to appear and attacked me. I knocked out the soldiers with ease while deflecting the bullets coming at me. My breath became heavy as I looked where Widowmaker was, she was gone. "Widowmaker is on the move..." I said to myself. A sudden scream of pain was heard, (Y/N)'s scream. My heart stopped and time seemed to slow as I raced to where the screams came from. Talon soldiers tried to get in my way, but in anger I unsheathed my katana and used Dragonblade to wipe them out.

Dashing through the enemy line, I was finally able to see Tracer and... she was holding onto bleeding (Y/N). I dropped my katana, rushing towards (Y/N) and took her into my arms. "M-My lo-love, what ha-happen! Please st-stay with m-me!" "Wid-Widow... she ac-actually got m-m-me..." (Y/N) chuckled weakly and started to cough up blood. "T-Tracer! G-Go fin-find Me-Mercy! NOW!" I yelled at her, making her jumped in fear before blinking off. Tears poured out of (Y/N)'s eyes as she held onto me, her breathing becoming heavy. "Ge-Genji... c-can I ask a fa-favor..." "Y-Yes lo-love, wh-what i-is i-it?" "Le-Let... let m-me see yo-your face... one la-last tim-time..."

"D-Don't s-s-say tha-that! You-You're go-going t-to b-be ok-okay!" "Ple-Please..." (Y/N)'s voice was quiet, struggling to speak. Taking off my mask, I throwed it to the side and held (Y/N) tightly. Using what little energy she had, (Y/N) gently placed a blood covered hand on my cheek. "I l-love yo-you... so much Ge-Genji..." "I-I lo-love y-you to-too, (Y/N). Pl-Please do-don't lea-leave m-me." "I'm so-sorry... Gen-" (Y/N)'s breathing stopped, her body went limp within my grasp. Tears covered my cheeks as I shut my eyes, pulling her close to me, blood staining my armour. I yelled out in agony and cried. 'She's gone... the one I loved... died in my arms, all because of... Widowmaker' My eyes shot open and revenge consumed my heart.

I gently placed a kiss on (Y/N)'s cold forehead while setting her down and stood up, grabbing my katana. My grip tightened around the katana with each step I took, making my way through the Talon base that was now in ruins. I spot Widowmaker hiding behind a metak crate, reloading her gun. Without thinking, i dashed infront of her, knocking the gun out of her hands. She gasped in surpise and jumped back, my blade pointed at her. "You... you killed her..." "Who, your girlfriend? Ha, I see I struck a nerve, haven't I?" Widowmaker laughed only to get cut off when I pressed my blade roughly against her neck, making it slightly bleed. Widows breath hitched before going back to normal and glared coldly at me. "What will you do now cyborg? Kill me?" "I won't kill you... yet. You'll suffer first." I sliced deeply into Widows shoulder, making her cry out in pain.

I knock her to the ground and stabbed her multiple times. I was blinded by my actions, not realizing my team was calling out to me, trying to make me stop. I ignored them as a smirk appeared on my face. "You did this to yourself Widow. Can't you see that if you left (Y/N) alive, then you wouldn't be in so much pain." I growled at her, the sound of Widow choking on blood was all I heard other then my heartbeat. I was suddenly tackled to the ground by Soldier:76 and Zarya helping him. I tried to reach out do my blade for it to be taken away by Mercy, a look of sadness on her face. I yelled at them to let me go, only to be refused and knocked out cold. My world is now dark... my sunlight... my guide... my one and only true love was gone... I killed Widowmaker in vengeance, yet now I'm stuck within this prison... forever locked away with my sanity gone and madness taking its place. 'I want you back... (Y/N)... I never wanted a goodbye...'
