(Blackwatch Genji x Child Reader)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The beginning of the Omnic war was what almost took down humanity. But luckily a group called Overwatch appeared at the beginning of it, trying their best at defeating the Omnics. War kept going on and when it was at its peak, I lost my family. Alone with no one, a woman by the name of Angela found me and took me in. I was practically in a new family full of strange people, but it was a family like no other. Angela became my mother while Jack Morrison, the commander of Overwatch, became a father like figure to me. Though he was a man of war, his heart was still kind to my seven year old self. Eight years had passed since that fateful day and I'm now a trainee for my mother in becoming a medic.
My father was a little sad, but excepted none the less for my sake. With that, I started learning the basics of medicine. At first I wasn't that good, but months went by and now I'm almost at my mother level. Though, I'll never be as good as her, especially since she brought a man back to life. Think it's a joke, think again. I remember that day clearly, it started out as a normal morning soon turning into panic and fear. Mom was had to stop for todays lesson on medicine in order to help the man. No one knew his name and didn't feel like it at the time. His life was hanging in the balance with deep cuts around his body, bleeding out. I was wanting to help my mother, but father told me to stay beside Tracer in the mean time.
Days passed when they finally found a solution on keeping him alive. In that progress the man... became inhuman. His memories were gone and had only the mind of a machine, to kill or destroy anything in his path. His supposed name was Genji Shimada, but mother isn't to sure. Genji was deemed to dangerous to work with and was locked away, watched 24/7 by guards. Mother would try to talk with Genji, but he'd stay silent, glaring at her with pure evil eyes. The only time he wouldn't look a the wall or floor was when my mother test led his skills and strength against training bots. I was never allowed to watch, yet that day was different. I was actually allowed to be by my mother's side, to watch the subject in battle.
"See (Y/N), watch how he attacks. With the cyborg part of him, his skills have advanced massively." "That's amazing... but why do you have to lock him away?" "(Y/N), Genji is still uneasy with us around him. The fragments of memories he gets sets him into a blind rage, causing him to attack anything in his path. That's why he must be locked up." Mother sighed as she watched Genji closely. "Because of this... will Genji be part of Blackwatch?" I questioned as looked at her. Mother thought for a moment before nodding her head. "Yes, he'll be working with Commander Reyes and his newest rookie McCree. I'm sure that once Genji gets settled in, he'll be ready to fit in perfectly with Blackwatch." Mother said quietly before a call came in.
She excused herself, leaving the room with her notepad. I stand there alone not knowing what to do, so I go back to watching Genji fight fecrily. Bots were getting taken down faster then they could get repaired, leaving Genji to stand waiting for his next target. "Wow, that was fast. I've never seen anyone fight that well." I say quietly to myself in amazement. Genji turned his head towards me as his eyes flashed red to green then back to red. He said nothing, only watching me. My heart raced in fear, but calmed as I watched him. "You must hate being like this?" I asked him, not knowing if I'll get an answer from him. "Yes, I do. And I also hate being locked away like some freak." His voice was deep and rough as Genji put his sword away.
My eyes widened in shock before asking another question. "I-I see... and h-how did you l-learn to fi-fight like that?" "I remember very little of my memory, but... I do remember growing up learning to be a ninja for some reason... that I'm not completely sure of though." Genji said as he walked towards the wall before climbing up and perched himself next to the window infront of me. "I'm sorry that this happened to you, I did not know my mother did this to you." "Mother? She looks nothing like you though?" "My real parnets died during the Omnic war. Angela took me in and became my mother figure while the commander of Overwatch became my father figure. All the members of Overwatch became my new family, even if I was seven years old at the time."
"How old are you right now?" "I'm 15." I said with a smile. Genji tilted his head before pressing his hand against the window. "So you lasted eight years without your family and now work for Overwatch?" "Yes and no. I'm just a trainee right now, but when I turn 18 I'll become an official member of Overwatch and I'll be able to go my first mission that same day. Though my father would have to keep a close eye on me and keep me near him, but it's worth doing so on my very first mission." I rambled on about other stuff with Genji watching me in curiosity. He stayed quiet, not disturbing my little moment and without realising the my mother had came back, watching us in surprise. "What are you a trainee of?"
"Ah- Oh, I forgot to say what I was training for? I'm training to become a medic since there's not that many here, I like to take after my mother's job." I said with a smile before a cough intruppted us. Looking towards the door, I see mother watch us with a grin. "I see you got Genji to talk? That's wonderful, especially when you carried on a conversation with him." Mom said happily as Genji stiffened before letting go of the wall and falling to the ground on his feet. He acted as if nothing happened and started to attack the bots again. Mom sighed at Genjis action before turning to me. "I see you made a new friend. Maybe if you come here everyday when he's here, you can get him to talk more. Become more social or a little more open towards others?" "I guess I could, but you must understand mother, it's not my choice if he wishes to talk. He'll open up when he's ready." I say to her as I continued watching Genji. A smile graced my face as he glanced up at us every few often, making sure that I was still there. 'At least we might become good friends.'
