The cold, harsh winds of the December nights always made traveling hard. Especially for a child.

Lost in Hanamura, little (Y/N) trudged on a trail in the mist of night wind, her (h/l) (h/c) swaying violently in the wind, as soft sobs were heard from the child. She didn't know how it haooened, at first she was with her family, then a crowd of people ran... And little (Y/N) got lost. Upon walking, the young child got a chilling feeling that she was being watched...

***(Y/N)'s POV***

You sniffled while wiping your eyes for stray tears from your (e/c) eyes. 'Where am I even..?' You thought, looking up in front of you as you merely only saw Sakura trees here and there. Sobbing softly, you began to lose hope...

"Only for your hope to turn into fear..."

Hearing light footsteps, you quickly turned around, but saw nothing. "H-Hello? I-Is anyone there?" You asked, your voice trembling as your eyes looked all around you as you began getting more scared. "What is a child like you doing out here?"

Hearing the robotic voice mixed in with a human voice, made a small shiver crawl up your spine. "I-I lost my mommy a-and daddy..." You spoke softly, your voice lacing with fear. Mustering up courage, you looked around. "Could you help me..?" Moments passed after you asked that question, nothing changed. Hearing a quiet sigh, footsteps approached where you stood, and before you, stood a half man, half machine. He stood at 5'7, his spiky, black hair stood up on his head, while his face was hidden by a mask. Most of his body was replaced by metal, while only few human parts remained. Tubes were connected from the back of his neck, and down to his spine, and to his right arm, which remained human. He had two sheathed katanas on his back. Squatting down, he reached your height and looked into your (e/c) eyes with his own. "Where did you last see your parents?"

Walking back towards the road was quiet. Whilst walking every 10 meters, you'd ask a question, in which, he'd either answer, or ignored you, which resulted in another question. 'Yā, makukurī ga watashi ni awanai koto o negatte...' He thought, looking around for his teammate. Seeing no one, he began walking again, approaching the street you last saw your parents. Looking up at him, you decided to ask one last question. "What's under your mask?"

Stopping in his footsteps,Genji looked down at you, his red eyes looking into your large, curious ones. Sighing, he began walking once more. "Something you wish not to see..." Was all he said. Pouting, an idea suddenly came into your mind. "Well, if I tell you who I am, could I see under your mask?" You asked smiling innocently. Stopping once again, he sighed and put you down gently, squatting down to meet your height. "If I take off my mask, will you stop aksomh questions regarding it?" Smiling, you looked at him and nod. "Very well, child. What is your name?" Opening your mouth to speak, you answered him. "My name is (Y/N) (L/N)!" You answered sweetly. Nodding his head, he sighed and slowly took off his mask. You looked at his face. Scars littered all over, his eyes looking at the ground. "I am, hideous, am I not?" He asked, his voice naturally deep. Instead of answering, you placed your small hand on his cheek smiling. "You're not hideous at all. You a lot like me!" You smiled. Hearing your words, made him smile lightly and looked at yiur eyes. Standing up, he placed his mask back on, and looked down at you. "Come now, let us get you home."

During the way home, Genji Shimada couldn't have been more happy in his cybernetic life. He only saw what was left of his human past, hidden behind a mask. But once relieved, it showed...

Even he remained human, just hidden Behind The Mask.
