-Chapter Three-

The day had gone by and my temptation to fall asleep had grown greatly.

I knew I shouldn't sleep.

However, if I was to sleep, the horrid event would just reoccur in my dream and I couldn't risk that.

My mom had woken up every night since the incident and I could least give her this night of rest.

I pulled out my phone and thought about that afternoon, "everyone needs someone."

I think that's when I truly realized.

I need someone.

But nobody was willing to have me.

I pondered about wether I should call Calum or not.

That night before he left he told me I call him whenever.

Would calling him at 12 AM be considered acceptable?

I swiped my finger across my phone's screen turning it on and opened up Calum's contact.

I hesitated before clicking the call button but eventually got the gut to do it.

As the phone rang, I walked towards my window and pulled it open.

I slipped through it and onto my roof.

I laid down on the roof and just gazed at the full moon above me, glistening in the sky.

"Hello?" A familiar muffled Australian accent spoke on the end of the line.

"Calum?" I whispered into the phone.

"Fairy Girl?" Calum said, i could almost feel him smirking.

I hesitated before answering.
"I can't sleep." I admitted.

"I can." Calum chuckled.

I rolled my eyes, "you said to call you whenever."

"I don't think 12 in the morning is considered whenever." Calum said.

"Sorry." I sighed.

Calum stayed silent.

"Calum?" I spoke softly.

"Still here." Calum said. "On seconds thought, do you want me to come over?"

"But my mom and your mom-" I started.

"They don't have to know." Calum cut me off.

"I'm not supposed to let strangers over." I smiled.

"Oh so that's what you see me as." Calum chuckled.

"Can we just stay on the phone?" I asked.

"Yeah, I guess." Calum sighed.

++++++++

I lifted my head and scratched the back of my neck.

"What the-" I started.

I had fell asleep,
On my roof.

But that wasn't the strange part.

"I didn't have the dream-" I gasped.

I pondered on the various things that could have kept me from having my repetitive dream.

Maybe it was sleeping on the roof that kept me sane.

Maybe it was one time thing.

It could've been so many things that I didn't even acknowledge.

I kept the thoughts stuck in the back of my head as I climbed off of the roof and back into the safety of my bedroom.

I walked down stairs to my kitchen to find my other waiting at the dining table, "you didn't wake up." She smiled.

"And neither did you." I said returning the smile.

"What kept you from waking up?" My mother asked.

I could've told her about sleeping on the roof but I decided against it.

I shrugged, "who knows?"

"You know all this time I thought that if you went out there and met someone, it could've helped you get past your dreams. You know someone who could help you, someone you might need in your life. But I guess you did this on your own." My mother smiled.

That's when realization hit me.

It wasn't the roof that kept me from having my horrid dream.

It was Calum.
