I walked around my room. The white walls, the iron door, the lousy ass furniture. It was however, a room with a good view. Everyday without fail I would sit at the small desk area and stare out at the trees and the long stretch of field and could even make out a road in the horizon. I wanted to be out there badly, I really didn't want to be in here, but they locked me up here. I sometimes got into rages and screamed my mind out begging them to let me take a walk but the nurses refused. I was only allowed to sit and stare. Sit and stare, sit and stare, sit and stare, nothing else. Which was why I had devised a way that I could get out, but I knew I would eventually get caught but if I could just get that few moments of freedom it would be enough for me. Toilet paper became my friend, you add water to it and wrap it around somemore toilet paper and it hardens. I'd glue it to the door frame, because it would stick pretty well and prevented the door from actually fully closing. It was worth a shot right? I mean I would be the only one crazy enough to do it. So that evening before the guards came in to escort me to dinner I collected the hardened toilet paper that I had been saving every time I used the toilet from under the bed. Nurses did a shit job of spot-checking anyway as the door opened i fake ran a few steps toward the warden and placed the my palm with the tiny piece of toilet paper at the edge of the door frame. Then I heard thunder rumble outside, shoot, well, I guess a little rain never hurt nobody.

I ate pretty quickly much to the nurses surprise because i usually spat out the stuff they gave me. When I got back to my room and the coast was clear I tested out my mini experiment and to my surprise it worked. I quickly shut the door not wanting to draw any attention to myself. Now all I had to do was wait. I waited and waited and waited. It was almost twelve when the wardens finally went about their night patrol and the coast was clear. I had five minutes to get out of the room, I crept out slowly and padded my way down the hallway as quietly as I could. Suddenly a flash of lightening startled me and caused me to gasp and the next thing I knew a warden who had been making rounds suddenly appears out of know where and immediately sounds the alarm. I run. I ran as fast as I could I had to find the exit which was the giant iron doors that led to the lift but the warden was getting closer and he sounded pretty pissed. But i somehow managed to stumble through the doors and in the process lock him in. He is screaming now calling for backup so I just smiled and flipped him off. Once I got to ground level shockingly without getting caught i burst through the wooden doors and ran as fast as my legs could carry into the rain. It was heavy but I didn't mind, I was where i wanted to be after all. The lightening just made everything more dramatic I guess. But for the first time in a long time I was free. I laughed out loud and embraced the rain with my arms wide. I was practically crying, but suddenly I saw figure standing a few feet from me and bolted. I ran as fast as i could but somehow this figure managed to catch up to me and lift me from behind. My clothes were mostly wet now and translucent so you could see things if you squinted. I yelped when he grabbed me from behind. " Easy now." Came a deep voice, probably from him. I struggled in his grip until I was facing him and slowly looked up at his face and came face to face with a pair of familiar looking brown eyes.
