The next few weeks after the wedding passed very quickly. Steve and Catherine took their honeymoon in Bali. It was good for them, but not for the ray of the team who had to work with only 3 people for 2 weeks.
Steve and Catherine had so enjoyed their time together in Bali. Midnight walks down the beach, zip lining through the rain forest, and of course a lot of time in bed. But now they where back in Hawaii, and they had to get back to work.
That morning Catherine awoke with the warm sun shining on her face. She looked up at her husband who was still sound asleep. She tried to slide out of bed, but couldn't seeing as how she was wrapped protectively in Steve's arms. This made her smile and even giggle a little. She was living a life she once imagined she would live, but never thought she would actually live. But it was good. This was a good life.
It was now 7:30, Catherine slid off of Steve and down into his arms. She looked up at him and smiled, he looked back at her and smiled. Catherine looked over at the clock, she knew that she had to get up and get ready for work.
S: You gonna take a shower?
C: Are you?
They looked at each other and smiled, even laughing a little bit. Catherine through back the covers and ran into the bathroom. A few moments later Steve heard the shower turn on, Catherine opened the door, she stood there looking at Steve, as he looked at her. She giggled, then spun on her heel and walked back into the bathroom.
He looked at her and smiled. He never imagined this. His marriage, his wife. His all around life. He never thought that he and Catherine would be in this spot. He smiled just thinking about her, about their relationship. Even though he never thought that he would be here, he didn't regret it. In fact he found as some sort of miracle.
Catherine opened the door, a look of desperation and disappointment on her face. Steve looked at her and laughed, causing Catherine to smirk. He jumped out of bed and walked to the bathroom. He opened the door and was met by Catherine's face. They both smiled, then Steve wrapped his arms around Catherine and picked her up as they kissed.
As the two showered, well more than just showered, they both got a sense of what the other was thinking. About how much they love each other, and how perfect their lives really are.
When they where finished in the shower, they both hopped out and went for towels. They where nice and warm thanks to Steve who had put them in the tumble dryer. They got dressed and ready then ate breakfast and got in the car to go to work.
When they got to work Catherine told Steve to go up to the office and not to wait for her. She had to make a phone call to one of her Navy friends. She caught up pretty quick to Steve and only walked up the stairs a few moments after him.
But as she rounded the corner to go down the hall she was stopped by a hand on her shoulder. She spin around and was met by a familiar unpleasant face
It was Lynn and she had gun. She pointed it at Catherine and without hesitation she shot her. Two bullets burst through Catherine's skin and lodged themselves in her chest, the sickening sight of blood covering the floor.
From inside the office everyone heard gunshots. They ran outside their guns on hand. They round the corner all behind Steve. The sight informs of them was horrifying. Catherine laying helplessly in a pile of her own blood. And Lynn staring down at her, a smug smile on her face.
Chin took a shot at Lynn taking her down. Danny called 911 and Steve ran to Catherine. She was struggling to breath but Steve knew that she had to stay alive. He cradled her in his arms and encouraged her to keep looking at her.
Steve's face was the last thing she saw before everything went black. Cold and black. "Is this what it feels like to be dead?" She thought.
