McRollins- When She Came Back

Going Back

A few days after Catherine had woken up, she had gone home. Steve made sure to keep her in bed and keep her stress free. But knowing Catherine she wanted to go back to work, the minute she stepped out of the hospital.

1 week later Steve finally gave up and let her come back. As long as she didn't leave the office for another week. That was finally here and Catherine couldn't be happier. Though she did have to go and get her stitches out before she and Steve went to work.

She got dressed and went downstairs to meet Steve, who handed her a muffin and a coffee. He picked up the car keys off the hook the closed he door after Catherine walked out. They both got in the car and put on their seat belts, the Steve drove off to the hospital.

When they got to the hospital they walked in the front entrance and checked in. They walked up a flight of stairs then sat down in the waiting room labeled number 2. They waited for about 5 minutes before a doctor called them in.

Catherine hopped up on the table, getting an interested look from the doctor.

Doctor: Ms. Rollins, this is going to hurt. A lot. Don't you want to be sedated?

C: It's Mrs. McGarett actually. And no I don't want to be sedated.

Doctor: Okay, I am just asking sure you know how much it will hurt.

C: Look, my husband and I are already late for work. Can you please just take these out.

Doctor: Okay.

Steve grabbed Catherine's hand, but she pulled back as if to prove a point. That she didn't need Steve to hold her hand. She could handle the pain on her own. Steve watched as the stitches came out. Catherine showed no expression at all. Instead she twirled her hair around her finger and looked at he imaginary watch, sighing loudly as if to tell the doctor to hurry up.

After 30 minutes the doctor was finally down. As soon as she pulled her hands away from Catherine, Catherine jumped down from the table, grabbed her purse and walked out the door. Steve shook his head smiling, laughing a little too.

Doctor: Did she not like me or something?

S: She hates hospitals. We both do. Don't take it personally.

Doctor: Are you in here a lot?

S: Yah. Maybe a little too much.

Doctor: Might I ask why?

S: We are both in the Navy. We have been in many uh, torture situations. We are also both cops, so we get shot at. A lot.

Doctor: Oh, wel...

But before the doctor could finish. Catherine through open the door, walked in, grabbed Steve by the hand and dragged him out. Steve nodded to the doctor then ran a few steps to catch up to Catherine.

The two walked hand in hand out of the hospital. They both hoped that they wouldn't have to finback there for a long time. Catherine reached in Steve's pocket and took the keys. He hated when she drove but right now she was really feeling in the mood.

The two arrived at the office rather quickly. Catherine practically jumped out of the car and ran inside. Steve laughed at her then quickly followed. He remembered what had happened he last time she walked to the office alone.

Steve eventually caught up to Catherine, just as she was about to turn the corner. He grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers together. She looked at him and smiled, then leaned over as he extended his arm out and pulled her into a side hug. They walked like this into the office, then into Steve's office. Catherine sat down at her desk, sighing as she did.

S: Comfy?

C: Yah.

S: Good. Cause that's where you'll stay today.

C: Uh uh. No way Steve. I have had enough down time already. I am here and I am working. Two working. Not paperwork.

S: Cath...

C: No Steve. I am ready.

Steve laughed and rolled his eyes at Catherine. She stood up and walked over to Steve. He hugged her then they walked out into the office. Danny, Chin and Kono smiled as they watched their friends walk towards them.

S: We got a case yet?

CHK: Not yet.

C: Ughughugh!

Everyone looked  at Catherine and laughed. They knew that she had been bored. But they didn't know that bored. Everyone had stopped laughing and the room was silent. All of a sudden Steve's phone started to ring. He took it out of his pocket and looked at the caller ID. He smiled at it and answered.

S: Yah. Alright we're on our way.

Steve looked at Catherine and smiled, even laughing a little. Then the five of them walked out of the office together. Ready to start their day.
