Thunder Buddies

Lily followed Scorpius inside the manor, her head low. "What'd you get from Weasley & Weasley?!" Grey yelled as she ran down the stairs.

Draco raised an eyebrow as Lily pulled the box from her pocket. "Nothing you need," she said, patting her on the head.

"Awe come on! You don't take me and then you don't bring me back anything?!"

Lily took the Pheonix from Scorpius and handed it to Grey. "Have the bird."

Draco rolled his eyes, taking the bird and handing Grey a box. "I would never forget you, now run along."

Astoria laughed, wrapping her arms around Draco's waist. "What did you get her?"

"I got her something special. And you something as well."

"You didn't have to get me anything Draco, I would've been fine. You pamper me enough."

He handed her a small box, opening it in front of her. Lily didn't understand how someone could just accept things like that. She felt Scorpius brush past her and watched as he slipped up the stairs, their things in his hands. She rushed after him, following him into his room.

His room was organized like always, king size bed in the corner, silver sheets wrinkle free, desk in the corner, papers stacked perfectly, a bookshelf stacked to the brim with books, a dresser next to the bathroom door, the green carpet steamed, nightstand by the bed, lamp on it, a cork board up on the wall, next to the window. It was the only messy thing in the room. Pictures of Lily, Grey and himself tacked up on it.

She smiled as Scorpius brushed against her, reaching for a picture. It was her favorite, it was of when they were young, when they went to the Ministry of Magic to see Kingsley Shaklebolt, Grey was stumbling over her feet, Scorpius and Lily holding her up, smiling. Lily was laughing at a man who had snapped the picture to give to Draco, Scorpius smirking and Grey grinning.

Lily sighed as he tacked it in a different place. "Mm... That seemed like so long ago," he murmered behind her, backing away.

Lily smiled, turning to face him. "Why don't we go for a walk? Just us, it's been a while. Usually Grey won't leave you be."

Lily laughed, it was true. The other girl couldn't keep away from her. "Ok Scorpius," she said, making her way to the door.

Scorpius quickly caught up and they walked to the garden.

Scorpius lay in his bed, looking out the window. It had been a long day and all he wanted to do was sleep but for some reason he couldn't. He tossed and turned in his bed, grumbling he sat up.

Lightning flashed outside and he knew thunder was coming. The explosive boom echoed through the house and he knew Grey would be running into his room any second now. She hated storms, the thunder scared her. He found it quite funny, to her during this time he was the bravest person ever.

His door was thrown open and Grey rushed in, running to him. He quickly grabbed her, pulling her into the bed and against him. "Shh, it's ok," he murmered.

He knew she was still traumatized from when someone attacked the house with explosives when she was a baby. 

He saw Lily at the door, her eyes full of tears. He held out his hand, holding Grey with the other one. She slowly walked to him, taking his hand. He helped her into the bed, pulling her close as well. "Its going to be ok," he murmered to both of them. "Its just thunder. We're not under attack, we're not going to die. Its ok," he whispered to Grey and Lily.

Grey looked up at him, her grey eyes full of tears. "Go to sleep," he whispered, laying her down in his bed and turning to Lily.

He didn't notice Draco and Astoria at the door. Nor when they left.

When Scorpius was sure Grey was asleep, he asked Lily, "What did you dream about?"

"Him," she said quietly.

He knew exactly who she was talking about. Lucius Malfoy. He pulled her close, rocking her gently. Storms always have her dreams about him.

He rocked her until she was asleep, and went to find his father so he could put a silencing spell around his room son the girls couldn't hear the thunder and be awoken.

He chuckled to himself. They were thunder buddies.
