Scorpius opened his letter, his Malfoy ring glittering on his ring finger.

Dear Son,
What house did you get into? Slytherin most likely. Maybe even Ravenclaw, your quite intelegant. Did you tell the house elves about your allergy to pumpkin juice? How is Lily? I hope you find many friends, you are very friendly. There is a pendant in here I would like for you to give to Rose Weasley.

Love, Father.

Scorpius frowned, slipping the letter into his pocket and taking out the pendant. It looked like Lily's, now that it had changed.

He turned to where Rose sat, her head buried in her letter

He turned to where Rose sat, her head buried in her letter. He stood and tapped her on her shoulder.

She looked up and asked, "Yes Scorpius?"

"Here," he said, handing her the pendant.

She blushed, taking it. "Thank you."

She looked away, clasping it around her neck. He nodded, sitting back down next to Lily.

"I'm going to ask Dramon if I can tryout for Quidditch," he whispered in her ear.

She nodded, standing up and leaving.

Scorpius walked down to the Quidditch Field where he saw a small group of four Gryffindors, two Slytherins, four very familiar Ravenclaws and three Hufflepuffs. If he joined there would be enough for a match.

He walked up to them. The Gryffindors were Rose Weasley, Fred Weasley, Gizmo Ford, and Belle Weasley; the other Slytherins were Prince and Alextron; the Ravenclaws were Dumbledore, Lily, James and Hugo; the Hufflepuffs were Longbottom, Shacklebolt and Aberdale.

He waved and walked over. "Need another player?"

They nodded. "That will even it out," Lily said.

"So, Slytherins with Ravenclaws, Gryffindors with Hufflepuffs."

They all agreed and he bumped Prince's shoulder. "Stop eyeing Alextron if you know what's good for you."

"The first year? She's not dangerous."

He chuckled. "She kicked your arse this morning."

"She knocked my feet out from under me. She's not dangerous."

He rolled his eyes, mounting his broom and flying up. Another Hufflepuff brought out the case with the bludger, quaffle and snitch in it. The Hufflepuff handed out the bats, one to Prince and one to Fred. Fred turned to Shacklebolt, handing it to her. They must've paired up for this game. Prince gave his bat to James, pointing at Rose.

What was he playing at? Scorpius took his place next to Rose, high above. "Playing Seeker?"

She nodded, looking out at the field. "Are you ok?" Rose bit her lip. "You can tell me anything, you know that, right?"

She looked over at him. "I- I'm sorry. But you're a Slytherin and I'm a Gryffindor. We're not supposed to be friends."

Anger bubbled in Scorpius. "I don't care what house I'm in or what house you're in! I want to be your friend."

Before she could answer the game had started and he dipped down, to where he like viewing Quidditch games when he was on a broom.

Lily blocked a quaffle thrown by Longbottom, Fred slammed a bludger at Prince, who barely dodged it, Gizmo Ford got hit with a bludger, only on his broom, by Prince, Dumbledore scored against Belle Weasley, who was playing Keeper.

Scorpius finally spotted a small gold object and sped over, leaving Rose. But it wasn't the snitch. He heard the sound of the bludger connecting with a bat and turned. Prince had hit the bludger, straight at Rose. Rose's eyes widened but before it struck her Lily streaked in front of Rose.

Lily caught the bludger in the jaw, flying back. Potter was there in a heartbeat and so was Scorpius. Lily was falling off her broom when James caught her, cradling her close. The game froze and the others rushed over.

Lily was limp in James's arms, Scorpius taking her and flying to the ground. The others landed beside him, Prince smirking. "Oops. I wasn't aiming for her. I was aiming for Weasley."

Scorpius snarled, launching himself at Prince, his vision red. His fist connected with the other boy's nose, instantly blood flowed from it. Prince's eyes widened and he stumbled.

Scorpius was on him in an instant. "You! You knew Lily would get in front of that bludger!"

Prince kicked Scorpius in the chest, sending him flying. "I didn't know. She should've been smart and stayed out of the way!"

"Mr. Prince, Mr. Malfoy!" Professor Dramon yelled, running up. "What in Merlin's Beard is going on?!"

It must've looked like something bad. Lily was unconscious and both boys were bruised and bloody.

"He knocked Lily out with a bludger on purpose!" Scorpius yelled.

"He's lying!" Prince yelled.

"Both of you! My office! Now!"

A/N: uh oh, they are about to get in trouble.
