TWENTY-THREE

Over the days that had followed, Ravin had taught Damon things that Ravin hadn't thought he'd be able to do. Such as controlling his Holy Blade – Ravin had told him that all the angels called their weapon that, just as the originals called theirs their Demonic Weapon, even if they didn't look that different and did the same thing. The angels hadn't wanted their weapons names touched by ones not them. Other things they found he could do was possession, teleportation, telekinesis, and sedation – poor Grey had been the guinea pig for the experiments, but the wolf didn't seem to mind... too much. Something else that Damon had enjoyed was manifesting objects – or as Ravin called it 'Reality Warping'. Unfortunately, Damon could only do most of the things once before falling asleep. Exhausted. Although, he didn't mind, he hadn't had a dream in a while. But then, seeing that last memory, so recent, one just before she'd fallen into her coma, would there be any more?

Since they'd all agreed to having a break for the day, Damon was watching television with Sparrow, Nick, Ivey, and Rose. Damon was surprised to find that the chair Kayline and Jayden had had a vampyre make for him was actually still very comfortable after hours of sitting in it. It was near four in the morning when Spirit entered the living room with the rest of the vampyre's in tow. Ravin didn't follow, he walked at his own pace.

"Suresha is now heading for England," Spirit told them.

"How does he know they're here?," Rose's tone said how they all felt. Confused as hell. And who the "they're" was obvious. Vivian and her family. Because it had started to become clear that Suresha was hunting her. But surely he didn't know what Ashley's mark meant. Ravin hadn't truly understood until Spirit had tried to explain it to him during one of their sessions of practising his magic.

"The family probably said something while he was in hearing range," Ravin answered.

"But, if he was in hearing range, why didn't he attack her?" Jayden asked. The question was harsh but one that made all eyes look back at Ravin. Demanding an answer.

"Little Vivian has a pooka protecting her."

Ravin had given the girl a pet name? Damon felt his eye brows raise, but turned back to the conversation at hand when Nick spoke.

"What difference does that make?" Nick asked leaning forward, elbows on knees.

Damon noticed that Nick was starting to dress a little cleaner than a couple of weeks ago. And that he was starting to come out of his silence. Seeing Micah and Ronnie look at Nick also said that they too were noticing the difference. And were extremely happy about it.

"I thought pooka's were myth," Jayden said just as Nick finished.

"So are vampyre's and angels," Damon said to Jayden, emphasising his point by flaring out his wings slightly. "And originals, dracan, and darkwalkers don't even exist."

"Good point," Jayden conceded, if a bit reluctantly.

Ravin answered Nick's question. "Back when other mythical creature's did indeed exist in this realm, pooka's were great guardian's, if they ever decided to attach themselves to a another. Being one of the last, I would have thought he'd have found a mate of his own species. Not attach himself to a human."

Damon wasn't honestly sure whether to take that as a hit from Ravin or not. Did Ravin have feelings for Ashley? Before Damon could go any deeper into the subject, Ravin continued.

"Pooka's are actually one of the few creature's that we originals can have a fair fight against." Then he paused before looking at Spirit. "And your scouts are slow. Suresha is only a few miles away. But it's dawn, so he won't attack."
