I looked over at Jason and felt a sort of quiet calm envelope us. I was still reeling from everything that he had shared with me about his past. I could see and feel how much he loved and still loves Laura. I couldn't help but cry and feel his heartbreak as he told me of the last days he spent with her.

"How exactly did we get from Gone Girl to me opening up about my past?" he groaned and started rubbing his eyes.

"I'm not sure either, but I appreciate your trust and honesty. I'm sure it wasn't easy sharing all those things." I smiled at him.

He looked over at me and gave me a strange look, "I don't know what it is about you Safari, but I've never told anyone what I just told you. Not even Tom." He said in disbelief of his own actions.

"Ah. It must be my pleasing and trustworthy personality." I quipped, teasing him by wiggling my eyebrows.

He scoffed. "Yeah, that must be it." and shook his head while rolling his eyes, but I could see the corner of his lips raise in a small smile.

"Oh please, you know you love me." I said in my best Gossip girl voice while I sat up straight, pretending to flip my hair over my shoulder, hoping to get a laugh out of him.

I batted my eyes at him, waiting for his bellowing laughter. But he stared awkwardly at me instead and gave a small cough.

I raised an eyebrow at him. "It's from Gossip girl." I huffed. "It's a show..oh, nevermind." I waved my hand at him. He probably has no idea what it is, and he shouldn't , he was a guy after all.

"Oh.Sorry." He shrugged.

"Ok, seriously, thank you for trusting me enough to share that part of your life. If you ever need to talk or whatever. I'll be your sounding board."

"Uh...pretty sure I don't want to repeat all of that again." He chuckled weakly. "But I get what you mean. Thank you." He gave me a gracious smile.

I smiled at him and looked over his face. His eyes were kind and softer, his lips now pulled in a soft smile, gone was his arrogant smirk.

"Weeellll..." I said, prolonging it unnecessarily, "What do you want to do now?"

"I'd like to put in more sketches before we leave, if it's alright with you?" Jason looked at me, waiting for my answer.

"Of course! " I agreed and moved back to my end of the couch. "Here, put your leg up." I told him as I plumped a throw pillow on the couch.

"Thanks." He groaned as he lifted his leg back to the couch.

We fell into a comfortable silence. The only sound were the rustling of pages of my book and his sketch pad. I occasionally glanced at him and I watched him as he drew. I stared at him as his brows scrunched together in concentration. His ice blue eyes grew a darker shade at the intensity of his stare at what he was drawing. I couldn't tear my gaze away from him.

I was staring unabashedly at him, when he suddenly looked up. I probably looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I quickly turned away and buried my face into my book.

I heard him chuckle and I felt my cheeks warm up. Thank God he didn't say anything.

I woke up with a start, and for a second I was completely at a loss on where I was until Jason spoke up.

"Hey you. Glad you finally decided to join us in the land of the living." He chuckled.
