Prism Joy

I stomped out of the restaurant, seething with anger because one, I left behind a perfectly good meal and I was still very much hungry and two, how dare he humiliate me with his condescending tone! not to mention that almost kiss that he made into a total joke! My ego and pride just died in that restaurant.

With tears starting to blur my vision, I raised a hand to call a taxi. Thankfully, one stopped immediately and I hopped inside. After telling the driver my destination, I took a moment and let all my anger and frustration flow through my tears.

"Are you alright, miss?" the driver asked me, glancing at me through his rearview mirror.

"Yes." I mumbled and gave him a small smile, grateful for his concern.

Quickly wiping my tears, I took out my phone to arrange a car to pick up Jason at the restaurant. The beauty of having your bestfriend manage a PA company is that you pick up a useful thing or two. So I called the chauffeur company that Marj always uses and asked for Jerome. Jerome used to work for Marj's family until he retired and went into the chauffeur business, with a little help from marj of course.

"My little prism! How are you!" Jerome bellowed over the phone. Yes, Jerome treated marj and me like we were his daughters.

"Hi pop-pop. I need a favor.." I started trying my best to hide the sadness in my voice.

"Say no more my little one, consider it done." He quickly answered.

I laughed, glad that it covered up my sad disposition. "You don't even know what I'm asking!"

"Well, you've never asked me for anything prism, so now, whatever it is. I'm on it. Or I'll find someone to do it." He chuckled. "Pop-pop isn't that young anymore." He groaned.

"Aww..you'll always be young at heart. " I chided him.

"Well, yes, yes. Now,tell me what is it that you need?"

So I told him that I needed someone to pick up Jason from the restaurant and take him home and babysit for a while before taking him to the party. I gave him specific instructions that Jason had a broken leg and might need a little help. Jerome assured me that he'll have his best man on the job. I thanked him profusely and wished him good health before we finally said goodbye.

Well, that's one problem down. Now about that dress...

I dialed the ever familiar number and hoped to God she answers.

"Pri!!!!!!!!!!" her voices screeched over the phone.

I sat there momentarily caught in shock that Marj finally answered her phone.

"Uh..Pri?" She asked again.

"Marj, I need a dress. Formal. Party. Art people. going with Jason your asshole client." I gave a quick rundown before sniffling.

"Ok." Marj tone went all business like. "Give me a moment and I'll get something done. Go home and no more crying. I'll call back and you tell me everything." She commanded.

"Ok"

"And Pri.. I love you. Thank you." Her soft tone made me smile once more, making me forget how much I hurt over Jason.

"You know I love you too Marj. Anything for you." I whispered. "Now go work your magic and find me a dress." I laughed.

An hour later, I was sprawled on my couch, munching on some gingerbread cookies I found in my cupboard. Marj had called back and warned me about the impending storm that was her glam squad, who were coming over in a while to get me ready for the party.
