Friends?

God, how I hate the word. "Friends" is the last thing I want with Joy right now, but it's what is right. I smiled at her but good Lord I wanted to sweep her in my arms and hold her close. I wanted to maim Kevin for touching her and I wanted to kill Drew for being her childhood friend and knowing her before I did. Neither of them deserved her.

I'm a mess. One hell of a jealous mess.

"So..are you hungry? Did you even eat before you left for the party?" She asked.

I cringed. I really didn't have time to eat, even at the restaurant, I had Susan wrap all the food up and give it to the first homeless person they saw.

"I take that as a no." she smirked at me. "Come on,I'll make you a sandwich." She smiled and motioned towards the kitchen.

Selfless.Forgiving.Beautiful inside and out.

I followed her through the doorway and stood there watching her take off her shoes and move around the kitchen, gathering ingredients. "Uhm. can I help?" I asked.

She stopped and looked over her shoulder."No, Thanks. Just sit and rest."

"okay." I answered quietly and moved to the kitchen table. I watched her bend over and peer into my fridge, giving me a nice view of her behind, I quickly looked away, not wanting to leer at her.

"Yeah.." She slowly said. "I'm going to have to do groceries again tomorrow. We're out of bread, milk and eggs.

"Can I come?" I quickly answered.

She stood up straight and looked at me perplexed. "Really? Isn't that a little below you?" she smirked.

"Ha.ha. Funny."

"Wait.." She narrowed her eyes at me. "Is this your attempt at getting out of doing work?"

No, it's my attempt to be around you as much as possible.

"You caught me." I deadpanned. "No, I just haven't been inside a grocery store for the longest time. I just want to go." I shrugged.

Well, that sounded lame.

She gave me one last doubtful glance then nodded her head. "Okay, as long as you promise to behave."

"Scouts Honor."

She rolled her eyes at me in response and continued on making me a sandwich.

"Alright, we're here." Joy said as she pulled into a parking space. "I hope you have a grocery list of things you want."

She looked over at me when I didn't respond.

"Of course you didn't make one." She smirked.

"Can't we just wing it? Go around and see what we need?" I answered. I really didn't see the need for lists.

"Because that isn't really efficient now is it?"

"But it's more fun."

"We're not here to have fun. It's a grocery store, not an amusement park" she frowned at me.
