A Night To Remember

Chapter 24

I woke up with Hailey on my side, asleep. I shake her shoulder slowly to wake her up, she groaned and slowly opening her eyes.

"Flame, how are you feeling?" She asked, her voice is a little raspy.

"Fine I think?" I answered.

I am beyond fine actually. What happened is still fresh in my mind, the words that I've said to him, his face when I told him that I don't need him, and the words of rejection. It hurts that I am the cause of his pain but I needed to do it.

"Flame, are you still going to continue your plan? You are emotionally weak now, I don't know if you can perform the magics properly if your mind is in a mess." I stare at her, she's right but I need to finish what I started, I came this far so, I must do it.

"Yes" It's my only reply. She gave me a hug.

"Please, think of your safety first. I am sure your parents and Jake will not be happy if something bad will happen to you and........ I can't forgive myself as well.... b-because I helped you, I-I help you with your plan" Hailey said in guilty tone.

"We've talk about this already Hailey, I need to do this to save my parents and Jake. I am their only hope. If I will not show myself to Klaus Michael tomorrow then he will come to kill my parents or even Jake and I can't afford to watch them die because of me." I explained. Hailey is still not convinced but she can't stop me, no one can stop me.

"Then let me go with you, I'll help you"

I quickly jump from my bed as I heard what she said. Is she trying to get herself killed.

"No! That's not a good idea, my plan will be ruined if you'll go with me. Just stay here Hailey and wait for Jake okay?" She didn't reply and focused her attention to the other things in the room.

"Hailey, just remember that I did this not just for my family but for you and Jake. Please just trust me on this." She look at me again.

"Okay, just promised that you'll return safe and sound..." She said.

I gave her a smile. Thanking god that she didn't fight back anymore.

My plan will be put in action on this day, after the sun sets.  I should prepare myself mentally and emotionally for me to win.

SHANE

I knocked the door from Zire's room. He didn't answer. I slowly turn the doorknob only to find it unlocked. When I open the door, the smell of dried bloods hits me. I found Zire laying on his bed staring at the ceiling without bothering to look at me and two dead bodies on the floor.

I'm curious what happened to him. He should be happy because he found Flame already but why he is in his room, lugubrious  and where's Flame?

"Zire, what happened, are you okay?" I asked worriedly.

" Is everyone ready for tomorrow Shane?" He didn't answer my question.

"Yes, everyone is ready but how about Flame?" I asked curious why she isn't here yet.

"She won't be here and never will be" He said trying to end the conversation

I looked at him in disbelief.
This is not good, we can't go and fight Klaus tomorrow night if Flame isn't here because she's a big help to us, she has a blood of the Sandovals and she has great powers than us. If Flame will not be here on this day then we don't have time to practice her powers and if we can't let her practice her powers then for sure, Zire wouldn't allow her to come with us.

"But you know how much we needed her"

"Stop!" He half shouted.
"We can fight Klaus tomorrow night without her. We don't need her Shane. We have killed him before and we will kill him again now." He said.

"You know it's impossib-"

"It is possible Shane, only if you believe." He stated.

I just nod my head in agreement. Maybe he's right, we are still stronger and more powerful than him after all.

"I am curious though, what happened to Flame anyway " I asked.

"I rejected her, she is not my mate anymore, and she's out of my concern from now on" Zire's voice is full of venom.

The hair at the back of my neck stands in anger when I heard what he said. I hate it when he talks about mate as if it is a contagious disease. 

"Why did you reject her? Are you out of your mind?" I said angrily. Why did he easily let her go? They're mates for gods sake.

"Don't shout at me, you don't know what happened" He said while grabbing my collar.

"Then tell me what happened!" I snapped at him.

He released my collar angrily. I immediately catch my breathe and stare at him.

His face turns from mad to hurt.

"She's the one who told me to leave her, she's the one who ask me to go away, she's the one who said that I am not her happiness that everytime she'll see me, she'll got disgusted with me and that she'll remember what I did to her. She also said that she wanted to live a life without me, her nightmare." He said, anger and hurt are clear in her voice.

"I just gave her what she wanted. I set her free even if it's killing me. So don't look at me like it's my fault Shane." He added.

I stare at him, gaping.
Now, everything's clear. Zire's weakness is Flame and he will do everything just to make her happy so, I am not surprised  why he let her go. Even me, If I am in Zire's place, I will do the same.

But I still can't believe that she said it. I know, Flame have already developed a feeling towards Zire, I saw it in her eyes that is why Zire's confession is puzzling me. Flame won't speak those words to Zire without any motive.

Something is not right.

I watched Zire, he's sitting at the edge of his bed, slouching while holding a bottle of beer.

You're good Flame, I must say. You've turn the beast into a brokenhearted puppy but don't celebrate yet because I will find out your true reasons why you send your mate away.

FLAME

I watch the sunset and the colors that it gives to the sky, it's breathtakingly beautiful. I should be feeling happy but the more I stare into it, the more I remembered how distressed I am.

Tonight, I will go and meet Klaus. I will make a deal to him, a deal that he cannot surely refuse.
