A Night To Remember

Chapter 33

After Jake left, I went to my room and lay there until the sun sets. Jake was right, I can choose my happiness.

I stood from my bed with a determination to talk to him. I will explain to Zire everything. I hope he'll listen and wouldn't send me away again.

I tried to mindlink Shane to tell him about my plan but same as the other day, I fail. He shut me off from his mind. I wonder why though, did Zire told him not to contact me or find me. I sigh, hoping that after this night, everything will be okay!

I open my eyes. I'm standing outside Zire's house or shall I say mansion. It's modernized, humans wouldn't know that the people who lives here are actually vampires.

I continue looking at the house and didn't noticed a group of men coming out from it, they are all wearing suits. I hid behind a tree, afraid that they will see me. I'm thankful that I masked my scent before coming here. The men shakes hand to the person standing in the doorway, from his movements and gestures, I can say that it was Shane. I'm waiting for Zire to show up but he didn't. Two cars arrived, and the men went inside it. I watched the car drives far. Who are those people? I was awoken from my reverie when I heard the door being shut. I suddenly felt nervous and scared. I can sense that something was up. Is this the reason why Shane didn't talk to me or visits me? There's only one thing to do for me to have my answers for all my questions and that is to talk to him.

I run towards the door using my vampire speed. I turn the knob, surprised that it's open. I slowly open the door to avoid the creaking sound. Once it's open, I hurriedly went upstairs to look for Zire. I stood outside his room, debating whether I'll continue or to retreat. I was about to knock when I heard Shane's voice.

"Flame, why are you here?" He asked.

I gave him an angry look and walked towards him.

"Why you didn't come back?" I asked.

He wasn't able to answer because as I turn my head, I saw a woman came out from Zire's room. She glanced at me then to Shane before she ran downstairs.

My gaze remain to where the woman ran. My heart is beating so fast, not in excitement but in nervousness. Suddenly, with a slow motion, Zire came out from his room, shirtless. When he saw me, his eyes grew wide in shock. My feet wobbled. Shane came fast to hold me.

"Is this the reason why you didn't look for me, Zire?" I asked. My voice came out hoarse. I blink the tears forming in my eyes. He didn't answer and take a step forward instead.

"No, Stop! Don't come any closer, please!" I begged. I released myself from Shane's hold. I'm angry at him too, now I know why he didn't visit me and why he shuts me off from his mind. This is it, this is the reason!

I take a step back. I wished I didn't came here.

"I'm sorry!" As I said those words, I ran using my vampire speed. This is more painful than his rejection, this is more painful than his words. My tears are falling freely from my eyes. I didn't make an attempt in wiping it.

"Flame!" I heard Zire calling me.

I continue running but stopped when I felt someone holding my arm. Zire was able to catch me. He holds my arms firmly, afraid that I might escape.

"Flame, look at me please." He pleaded.

I didn't turn my head. I remain standing, my back is facing him.

"Flame, I love you!" Zire said softly.

My cry turn into sobbed as I hear what he said.

"Lie" I breathe.
"If you love me, you should have looked for me!" I said between my sobs.

"I'm sorry, I-I wasn't ready!" He stated.

"You're not ready?" I asked. I look at him, disappointment is clear in my eyes.

"Is that really the reason or you're just busy finding a new mate?" I spat.

"No! I wouldn't ever replace you Flame. You're my one and only mate." He answered fast.

"Then who was that girl?"

"She is nothing to me Flame. She's just the daughter of the other vampire chief from the southern coast who is also greedy for power. He offers her daughter to be my mate, which makes my blood boil in anger. I told Shane to let them go home while I still can control myself. I thought she left with him but as I went out from the shower, I was schocked to see her in my room. Trust me Flame, I send her right away when I saw her. Flame, please believe me!"

Zire stare at me with sadness in his eyes. How I want to believe him but there's this part of me wanting his explanation about everything.

"Zire? Do you really care for me? Do you really love me?" I asked. I wiped the liquids on my cheeks.

Zire nods his head briskly.

"I love you Flame, if not then I wouldn't have marked you. I shouldn't have claim you as mine."

" B-but why you didn't let me explain on that day? Why you didn't even listen to me?"

Zire was shocked. He stare at me blankly.

"You chose to let me go than to hear my explanation!" I added.

"I-I was hurt!" Zire said.

"I'm hurting too Zire!" I stated.

"I know and I'm sorry that I hurt you Flame. I'm sorry for not listening to you! Please let's start this over again.. please"

"I really want too Zire but I don't know if this will work"

"It will Flame. I just know it that will, let's just give this a try. Let's start from the basic like humans do, please.. Flame!"

I stare at Zire's hopefull face. I don't want to reject him. This is what I want, this is what we both want. Maybe he's right, maybe we can really make this relationship work.

I gave Zire a nod. He smiled at me and hugs me. I hugged him back.

"I'll never let you go anymore Flame!" Zire whispers on my ear.

I smile at his chest. The feeling that I felt right now is indescribable.
