Chapter 6: These White Walls

(Pierce's pack house above)

Diana's POV

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep

That's the sound of me barely living. What an amazing sound to wake up to. I woke up to this every day, just different sounds. Like screaming, yelling, the sound of my blood dripping, the sound of my ears ringing....

Right now it was the continuous beeping of the machines and the pain coming from the stitches that went along my rib cage. I was still coughing up blood from time to time.

The brief memories from before the surgery flooded my mind and refused to go away. The image of my amazing mate whom I haven't even met yet. I found out from one of the nurses that he was the alpha of the pack and it shocked me.

There were also the worries in the back of my head creeping to the front of my conscience.

What if Rick came back for me? What if my mate ends up hating me when he meets me? What if my mate is a cruel man?

'No Diana, think positive!' Gretchen yelled in the back of my mind.

But I couldn't. I just couldn't. Everything hurt. 

It felt like my body was full of rocks and it was sinking into the mattress like it was an ocean.

Pierce's POV

My mate. MY mate! How could they separate us?! I had finally found her after all this time and now she was just pushed away from me again. HOW COULD THEY?! People will be punished for this.

'Pierce, it's fine. They were trying to heal her!' My wolf, Joshua, told me.

'I know, I know.' I whimpered.

Wait. Whimpered? There has to be something wrong with me!

'Go! See her you idiot!' Joshua yelled inside of me.

I listened to him and followed her beautiful scent of vanilla and sugar to a room. I quietly knocked. 

"Come in." Oh Lord her voice! It was so sweet in my ears, so...perfect.

I nervously peeked my head in the door and her eyes widened a little. She bowed her head toward me, submitting to my high position.

It was very quiet for a long time. She raised her head and we stared at each other. I felt the most amazing feeling erupting inside of me. I would love this beautiful angel until the day I die.

Diana's POV

I was sitting in my bed swimming in my misery when I heard loud footsteps coming down the hall. I took in the amazing, yet familiar scent of my mate and shivered in delight. I could practically feel the bond pulling my body out of the bed and toward him. I felt like I had known him for years now. 

Then, painfully slowly, he knocked on my door. I felt so excited! I wanted to go home with him, to let him hold me forever so I can feel happy again after all these years. 

'What if he doesn't like me Gretchen?' 

'He will love us!' She said in a demanding tone that made me laugh inside.

"Come in." I said gently.

I saw his head peek in the door and I felt his power. Oooooooh how I wanted him to come and grab my hand! To do...something!

Instead, like the idiot I am, I lowered my head in submission. Wow Diana, sexy move.

Regretting my action, I raised my head and stared into his dark brown eyes. I realized that they were lined with gold. How gorgeous, just like the rest of him.

"I'm Pierce." He said in a deep voice that sent chills down my spine.

"Hi. Ummm I'm Diana."

His face melted at the sound of my voice and I could tell he was loving every second of this. After staring at me a little longer he walked up to me and touched the side of my face. I almost yelped from the sparks that exploded everywhere. I couldn't help but lean into his hand. 

"I am so sorry this happened to you," he told me, "my  sorry excuse for a gamma can't do anything right." He recalled the situation, growling.

"It's alright." I smiled and put my hand over his.

His eyes softened and grabbed my hand tight, brought it to his mouth, and kissed it. 

"You have no idea how long I've been looking for you." He chuckled.

Wait. Really?! He was looking for me? Oh my gosh he does love me!

"So do I have to notify your parents and pack that you're with me?" He asked. My heart dropped to the floor.

"No." I squeaked.

He immediately realized and hugged me tight. 

"I am so sorry sweetheart," he said gently, "I didn't know."

"It's fine. I've had enough time to morn, it happened when I was four."

"So is that why you went rogue?" 

"No. I literally just ran away from the pack I was in when your men...found me." I cringed.

"Oh. So someone took you in?"

"Eh...Not exactly." I hesitated.

"Then what happened?" He pressed.

"We will talk about it later, am I going home with you now?"

"Of course angel! Why wouldn't you be?" He laughed.

"No reason." I fake laughed and shrugged that terrible thought off.

He ended up checking me out of the hospital and driving me to the pack house in his black Ferrari. It was a very nice car and I had never seen anything like it. How would I when I was practically a slave?

He drove in silence and after what seemed like forever, we pulled up to a large cabin-like mansion. The cold snow resting perfectly around it. The sun had set a while ago and light glowed through the windows. It looked so comfy! 

"Like what you see?" He laughed. Oh gosh his laugh was amazing! Not to mention his smile that could make any girl stutter.

"It's beautiful!" I sighed in wonder, taking in the magical state of the cabin.

"Here, let me show you around." He said taking my hand softly and pulling toward the warm comfort of the house.

Inside the house, there weren't many pack members. The first thing I noticed about it was how high the ceilings were. Then I took in the beautiful modern/woodsy decor. It smelled mostly like Pierce inside the living room, how many rooms were even in this thing?
