Chapter 21: Live your life while you can

Diana's POV

You know those moments when you just have to close your eyes and pray you'd fall into the ground where no one would see you again? That's how I feel exactly the moment William set foot on our pack soil. I could already feel Pierce's wolf pressing under his skin and begging to get out and tear this "mysterious unknown wolf" to pieces.

"Diana, can we talk?" Pierce grits his teeth together.

Meanwhile, my wolf was rejoicing that William was alive. All these years she had been without her Beta. 

"Sure." I said reluctantly.

He pulls me into another room where we can't be heard, "Diana, who is this wolf?" Oh boy he sounds pissed...

"He's my Beta, from my other pack." I bit my lip.

Pierce contemplated his next move and he crossed his arms, defeated.

"Pierce, please take him in! He's very respectful and he'll be an amazing fighter for you! Let him go through the ceremonies to join!" 

His eyes moved to me and I saw gentleness, fierceness, and fear in them at the same time. 

"I will think about it, but I must have an interview with him first. And you may not speak to him alone until I fully trust him." His eyes looked like they were begging, but they changed after a millisecond to a strict expression.

'Di, he's scared about a new man. Just do what he says!' Gretchen tries to sway me.

'I know Gretch.... I know.'

"Of course." I manage a small smile and he pulls me into his arms while kissing the crown of my head.

"Thank you." 

I nod, time to find out what happened to William.

"You will be staying in the guest room down the hallway from the kitchen." Eric tells William and points to the hallway to the right.

"Thank you again for everything." Will faces me and smiles gruffly.

"Anytime. You're my best friend it's the least I can do." I hug him and try to hold in tears. It had been so long and I can't even imagine what he had to go through after the attack. 

Eric nods and leaves us with the two guards that Pierce sent to watch me before he went to go through some files.

"Here, lets sit and talk!" I gesture to the stools under the kitchen counter and William takes a seat next to me.

"So what happened?" Things soon became serious and he looked down and flared his nostrils. This had been a nervous habit of Will's since he was little, it was such a small gesture that only I realized.

 "After the rogues took you, and your mom chased after you, she died. Your dad went crazy and the pack felt it too."

I feel tears trickle down my nose. My chest literally hurt at the memory of being taken away from my mom. All the childhood memories that I had, the things she taught me and the lullabies she sung to me...and now she was gone. No, I had to stay strong, so I could hear the story.

My beta reached out and wiped the tears off my face. I smile and gesture for him to go on.

"Your dad killed all the rogues and passed out from the pain of losing your mom. After it was all done I came out from under the dining table, where I was hiding, and saw what had happened. I couldn't find you.." William choked and wiped the tears from his eyes so I wouldn't see them.
