Morgan was sitting in their bed. A week had gone by, and every passing second, it got harder and harder to keep things from Eric.
All of that discomfort of looking at him knowing that soon things could change was weighing down on her.
Still, she made the best out of their time together.
Eric had explained to the leaders how the new devices worked, letting them know that in a weeks time they would start testing the dauntless compound to begin with, then move on to the other factions.
Morgan had stupidly perked up to interrupt Eric while in the middle of a briefing meeting he had set up to explain how dauntless was going to execute the testings and take all divergents to erudite.
Erudite said they would only be tested, and Eric wouldn't hurt them either. Morgan knew erudite could go as far as killing them in their experiments if that meant they were going to her answers out of them.
Eric glanced at her defiantly, Morgan had never doubted or even interrupted him while in meetings, if she had something to say, she would say it when they were alone. It was just one of those rules in the relationship.
Morgan kept it shut during the rest off the meeting, he explained the chronogram of the testings and the route the trucks were going to take the found divergents to erudite.
After lunch Morgan headed up to their apartment. She felt spent, like she was the worst, everything weighed her down. She hated to be between the sword and the wall.
She entered the apartment and closed the door behind her, but turned around when the door didn't smash into place.
Eric held the door opened, then closed the door when he walked into the apartment.
"I'm sorry" was the first thing she said while running her hand on her forehead.
Eric lifted his hand to take Morgan's, he held it in his while his other hand came up to her neck. Morgan looked at him, expecting to find him looking angry at her, but it was the opposite. He was worried about her, and that broke her heart even more.
He was going to hate her if he found out she was about to disobey him about this matter.
"Are you OK?" He asked her "you look tired"
Morgan shook her head while sighing, she leaned her head to his chest, hugging herself to his chest with his other hand.
"What were you going to say in the meeting?" His hand had left her own, and was placed in her back, drawing her closer to him. Morgan shook her head dismissively, Eric kissed the top of her head. "I won't be mad"
Morgan took a deep breath and let I out in a sigh.
"I don't want to do this" Morgan felt him tense, letting out his own puff of frustration "you said you won't be mad"
"I can't not be mad at this" he placed both of his hands on Morgan's shoulders and pulled her back "Morgan listen, I know you're scared of what will happen once we begin this, I know you're tired of confrontations, I know you might not want to do this. But now more than ever I need you to be with me on this one, we need to lead by example, we're the power couple of dauntless, and we need to be on the same page. You can doubt me about anything else you want, but this." His hands came to her neck, his thumbs touched her cheeks slowly "I need you with me on this"
She hated herself, she deserved the amount of pain that was now cursing on her throat, her stomack turns, how bad her face hurt because she just wanted to cry, cry out of impotence, anger, frustration. She felt disgusted with herself, because she knew that at the end of the day, she wasn't going to be on the same page as him.
