Months before meeting the pack

"Come on, Pipes. Please? For me?" I begged as the two of us walked down the streets of Miami close to the beach. We were currently searching for my brother, Percy, who has been missing for a few months now thanks to Hera. Piper and I decided to look for him near the coast. I'm hoping we could find him or at least get some clues to where he may be.

"No." Piper told me, looking at the items inside the stores we were passing by.

"Why not?" I whined, stepping around a group of teenagers that hogged the sidewalk.

"I am not going to steal ice cream." She deadpanned.

"It is not stealing! You said so yourself. Just use your charm speak and get us a free ice cream. It's not considered stealing." I informed her.

"I told myself I would stop doing that."

"Please, Piper!? It's so hot! And that's because I have personally faced Texas' bipolar weather. That's saying somethin'." I felt the familiar tug of the ocean. I stopped and turned to face the water on the other side of the street.

"Why did you stop?" Piper asked.

"I got a gut feeling." I told her.

"That's never a good sign." Piper muttered.

Looking both ways, I ran across the street. Cars honked at me, even though they were still a good meter or two away from me. I grumbled under my breath and waved them off.

"Nevah!" Piper screeched, running after me. She stopped when a car zoomed in front of her. After a few curses, she caught up to me. "Where are you going?"

"The ocean, where else?" I said, looking at her with a 'duh' look.

"Oh, sorry. Silly me." Piper sarcastically said. I grinned and shot her a wink.

"I'll go see if any of my ocean friends have seen Percy. Those guys love to gossip." I explained to Piper, giving her a salute. With that, I started to walk towards the shore.

"And what am I supposed to do while you gossip with fish?!" Piper called out, standing on her tip toes. People stopped and looked at the two of us with different expressions ranging from boredom to 'keep-my-child-away-from-these-two-wack-jobs'.

"Get us some ice cream!" I yelled back. Piper let out a groan.

"What flavor?" She grumbled loudly, crossing her arms across her chest like a stubborn toddler.

"Cookies n' Creame please! Thank you!"

"Yeah, yeah." Piper mumbled, waving her hand in dismissal.

"Love ya, Pipes!" I chuckled out. She rolled her eyes, muttering the words back. I grinned and walked into the water, ignoring the nosey posies.

Once my head fully submerged underwater (which is where I am technically in the ocean and no longer on the beach), the fishes, and a nurse shark (which is quite rare to find one out away from the reefs), swam towards me. Flicking their fins with excitement, they circled around me all talking at once.
