Chapter 13

Narrative
As the parade was fast approaching, Astrid had been looking out into the distance to hear thousand of people screaming and cheering, but it stops when everyone hears President Snow clearing his throat to get everyones attention. "Welcome! Welcome to the 74th Hunger games!" He yelled into the microphone that was in front of him and screams of cheering were heard all over the arena.

"I would like to introduce our tributes in a moment, but! I would like to say that this is probably going to be a pretty good year!" Snow said which caused a lot more cheers all over. "Astrid," Cinner whispered and she turned around to see a flame in his hand.

"I am going to put this on you guys. Then when your ready, press this button." Cinner said passing Astrid the small remote which contains a small button and the two of them look at eachother.

"I reckon we should do it when were near the middle so that everyone can get their attention on us and not the other districts." Matthew said and Astrid nods in agreement.

"Good strategy, now get into your chariots and hope for the best." Cinner said and the two of them get into the chariot just waiting for them to be called. "Now further a do, I would like to introduce to you, the tributes of the 74th Hunger Games!" President Snow said and the cheering happens all over again.

As I hear the cheering happen once again from the crowd, I noticed that some of the tributes chariots had started to go out of the room and go out to show off themselves to the capitol and President Snow. "Here we are, district 4," The host says and I groan annoyed to see that he is smirking and showing himself off. Jerk...

"Astrid, don't worry about him. He is just a threat to you." Matthew said and I smile softly at him. He is right, he is only a threat to me. After the bloodbath, he would probably go searching for me though. "Alright, but remember, we work together," I reminded him and he nods. I guess I will have to stick with this idiot in the games.

"Alright guys, get ready." Effie said with a huge smile spread on her face and I just hop onto the chariot waiting for our turn to go out there and show ourselves off to everyone. 'You better make sure that you will be a star honey' I hear a small voice in my head which gives me a small flashback.

"You better make sure that you will be a star honey..." Dad said picking me up and making me laugh.

"I will daddy! I will!"

"You will be a star." I whispered to myself as the horses started moving and I notice at the back of my eye that Matthew was smiling at me so I return it. "Ready?" Matthew said as we were about to show ourselves off.

"And last but not least, district 12!" President snow yelled.

"Ready." I said and I look straight forward and in a quick flash, the two of us are exposed to everyone in the capitol and as well as the other districts.

"Do it, do it now." I hear him mumble and I click the button which causes the back of our jackets to turn into fake flames which causes more screaming from the audience.

"Look at them! They aren't even getting burnt!" Ceasure said with a huge smile spread on his face.

I guess we almost rememberable. As I keep waving to the people, I started to feel Matthews hand trying to grqasp mine and I push it away and I give him a small death glare. "They will like it." He said and I roll my eyes before I grab his hand and we put it up in the air causing even more screams to occur. As we arrive with the rest of the districts, a huge smile spreads on my face when President Snow sees me.

"Welcome tributes to the 74th hunger games!" He says and all the tributes cheer extra loudly, but I stay silent.

"Now for the next 4 days you will all be going into a training arena so that we can see all of your skills and see how well you go before we rate you. Now you guys will go back to your rooms and you will all rest up for tomorrow." President Snow said before all the chariots start moving again back towards where we started and I just keep watching all the people cheer.

I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought...
