Chapter Four
Uncle (Jackson)

I'm murderous. Consumed with anger towards a lady I have always looked up to. It must show too, because as I walk into the hospital, Lily, the darling soul she is, immediately stands from her seat. "Jacks, what's wrong?" she asks as I approach her, my feet heavy, my heart just as heavy.

"Where is Rose?" I ask. "And Phil."

"Phil is most likely in his office. I haven't seen him leave yet. Rose will be in her room," she says softly. She tells me the floor and room number Rose is in. "Jacks, are you okay?"

"No, Lily," I say with a sigh. "I'm pissed." I bang my hand on the counter of the desk before storming off towards the elevators.

I press the button a little too hard but I don't give a crap. When the doors open, my foot taps as I wait for the people in the elevator to get out. I'm not a patient person, I'm not going to be patient today, or try to be anyway.

When the doors finally open to the floor Rose is on, the first person I lay eyes on is Phil. "Phil," I boom, exiting the elevator.

His head lifts from whatever he's looking at. Seeing me, he sighs. "Jackson, how are you doing?"

"Why did I only get told half an hour ago that Rose is here? And why the fuck doesn't Sang know yet?" I throw my questions at him, my anger only continuing to rise.

Phil sighs, placing the folder in his hands into a tray. "I was going to call you tonight. I've been busy all day with patients, Rose being one of them."

"Why doesn't Sang know?" I repeat, trying to not feel hurt over the fact he hasn't called me yet.

Phil looks at me. "The only person you can ask that question to is Rose. I can't tell Sang, Rose is here mentally and physically, and can still make her own decisions, so even though Sang is her next of kin, I can't tell her unless Rose gives me the go ahead."

That doesn't feel good enough and looking at the man I've known for a long fucking ass time, I realize he feels the same as me. He wants to tell Sang, as much as I do, as much as I've wanted to since Rose finally told me four months ago. I know Phil has known for a while with being Rose's doctor. He's been sitting on this for longer than I have.

Without a word, I walk past him, looking at the doors for Rose's room number. When I find it, I knock once and then push it open, catching from the corner of my eye Phil following me.

A startled gasp has my eyes going straight to the little old lady lying in the hospital bed. What shocks the shit out of me is the oxygen tubes that she has hooked around her ears and under her nose. When her emerald eyes land on me, she sighs. "I've been expecting you."

"You didn't think I would actually stay away, did you?" The door closes behind me and Phil comes to stand at my side.

"Don't be silly, you fool," Rose exclaims. "I know why you're here and the answer is still no. I am not telling her."

"You stubborn woman, why the hell not?" I ask, moving around the bed to stand at her side.

Her eyes harden on my face. If daggers were shooting from them, I'd be dead. "Do you know what it will do to her heart?" I don't say anything. I have a pretty good idea. "It will crush it."
