Please note, I am not a doctor. Nor do I really know anything about being a doctor. I apologise if nothing is accurate. I'm just going by what I've seen on TV.
Her Last Wish
Chapter Twenty Two
SangI rush by Owen, Gabriel and Kota and straight down the hall to the elevator, pressing the button multiple times. When it doesn't open in an instant, I let out a cry and rush further down the hall to the door that leads to the stairs. Owen, Gabriel and Kota just got off the damn thing, how is it not still there?
The door smashes into the wall as I push through it, taking the steps two at a time. I can hear the others right behind me, but it's Sean that catches me up and meets my pace. We rush up five flights of stairs and I stumble onto Nan's floor, instantly hearing the chaos of nurses and doctors rushing around.
"What happened?" Sean yells, stopping a nurse as she goes to rush to the nurses station. I don't stop, I rush down the hall and I have to grab the door frame to stop myself from running by it.
Nan sits in her hospital bed, a nurse holding a disposable bowl beneath it as Nan hacks and coughs. The bleed dripping from her chin has my stomach clenching. Her face is horribly pale and her skin looks clammy. "What's going on?" I ask, rushing over to Nan. "Nan?"
"The other lung is collapsing, I think," the nurse says. "Dr Roberts is on his way."
Sean rushes into the room and goes to the machine's before checking the blood in the bowl. "Has anyone rang down to theatre?"
"Theatre?" I cry.
"Gillian is doing it now," the nurse says.
"I'm here," Phil shouts, coming into the room. "Let's go."
An arm comes around my waist and I'm pulled away from the bed. "Nan. Nan," I cry. "No. What's going on? What are you doing?" I watch as the nurses and Phil take the breaks of the bed and then they're moving, wheeling my Nan out of the door. My hands claw at the arm around me. "No. Nan."
Suddenly Sean is there, taking my sweaty, tear stained face in his hands. "Look at me, Sang." It takes effort, but I do. "She has a bleed in the one lung that is working right now. We need to fix that, and while we're in there, we'll remove the collapsed one. She will feel so much better with it not there, I promise."
Tears leak from my eyes. "You'll bring her back to me?"
"Yes."
"You can't promise that, Sean," Owen says, his chest brushing against my back.
Sean's eyes harden as they focus over my head, focusing on Owen. "Watch me." Sean presses a kiss to my forehead and I watch with a breaking heart as he quickly leaves the room.
My knees buckle, but I don't fall. Owen scoops me up into his arms and I do the only thing I can; I curl into him and I cry.

Pacing. It's an expression of anxiety or annoyance. Sometimes both. One moment I'm feeling anxious, waiting here to hear some news. Next, I'm annoyed, because they're taking way too long and because they're taking too long, that makes the anxiety grow.
The moment I had managed to pull myself together, I was climbing from Owen's lap and making my way down to the operating rooms. I didn't want to sit in a waiting room, so I chose to just hang out in the hall, outside Theatre Four, where Nan is.
The guys are all here, North and Victor now included. It turned out that the reason they were all showing up was because they were having a team meeting. Something to do with an academy assignment they had been offered, that they needed to discuss as a team. I wondered for a brief moment if Sean had known this when he took me downstairs to the basement after I had found him on Maternity, but I brushed the thought away as quick as it came.
