Chapter Two
Sang

"Thank you so much, Lorraine. I'll see you Monday," I say down the phone before hanging up, sagging back against the wall. My boss, the principal of the elementary school I work at, has given me the rest of the week off, allowing me to return on Monday. That's a relief in itself. I want to be with Nan and keep an eye on her.

I drop my phone into my bag, tucking some hair behind my ear before straightening back up. I run my fingers down my blouse, desperately wishing for a pair of jeans and a tank top. However, I'm not leaving yet. I'll be here for as long as I have to be. Knowing Nan though, she'll try and kick me out within the hour.

Going back inside the hospital, I stop at the reception desk. Lily, the sweet soul, holds up a finger as she talks through the headset that's resting over her head. Lily is a close friend of Nan's. She's around the same age as what my mother would have been if she was alive.

Lily ends the call, taking the headset off and giving me her full attention. "Hi, Sang, how's Rose doing?"

"She'll be in for the next week or so. Her blood pressure isn't behaving," I tell her. "She'll be alright though. How's those handsome men of yours?"

Lily, like Nan once had, has an unusual relationship. It completely fascinates me. "Oh, you know, being men," Lilly says. "They're currently out of town on an assignment."

I frown. "You're all alone?"

Lily scoffs, rolling her eyes. "Don't be silly, girl. They have the young boys from the Blackbourne team coming to check on me."

I have no idea who is in the Blackbourne team, although that name tugs at something in the back of my mind, much like Dr Green's did. "Well, at least someone is around keeping an eye on you. I'd hate for you to be alone in that huge mansion of yours."

"And who is looking after you, Sang?" She asks, her lips curling up.

"I can look after myself; we both know that," I smile sweetly.

"I do," she pauses, pursing her lips. "Have you been asked again to come join the other side?"

I know exactly what she's on about. "Of course." I shoulder my bag. "And it will always be the same answer, Lily. I'm happy with how my life is. I like being... normal."

"Normal is overrated," she says playfully.

I grin. "Maybe so." I give her a wave and head for the elevator. Pressing the button, I wait, watching the little window at the top that tells me where the elevator currently is.

The air shifts around me. Feeling a presence, I peek from the corner of my eye. Someone wearing a black t-shirt stands next to me. I see him on his phone, thumbs moving furiously over the screen.

I look away just as the doors open. I go to step into the empty space, but almost stumble into the man that wears all black as we take a step at the same time. I step back, waving my arm out in front of me, and finally looking up at his face. It took me a few seconds longer than expected to get there too.

He's tall and muscular. With dark hair and dark eyes that are looking down at me through narrowed slits. His lips are pressed together in a flat line. He looks very displeased... and grumpy, the last thing I want to deal with today.
